What to do with kids in Malaga: 4 FREE places to keep the children entertained on the Costa del Sol

Having fun with the family on the Costa del Sol doesn't have to break the bank, this selection of activities are completely free!

It's not always easy keeping children entertained, happy and stimulated at weekends and during school breaks, but it doesn't have to be such a challenge and it definitely needn't break the bank.

In addition to its dazzling coastline, Malaga province is a leisure playground with something to suit all tastes, from parks and forests to themed and interactive museums, many of which are completely free to enter with the additional bonus of guided tours.

Here's a handful of some of Malaga's must-see attractions for all the family:

1. Malaga Aeromuseum (Aeromuseo de Málaga)

This is one of Malaga's best kept secrets, an attraction that often goes unnoticed despite offering heaps of interesting features and elements for both adults and children. Visitors can climb an air control tower, explore aircraft cockpits and experience flight simulators. There are engines (historical and not so old) to see, along with tools that have been used to direct the evolution of the aeronautical world in Spain and the world in general.

In addition, it's totally interactive and everything can be touched. All in all, Malaga Aeromuseum is a place where the whole family can have a good time and take part in different organised activities. Admission and parking are free.

2. Enchanted Forest in Parauta (Bosque Encantado, Parauta)

A beguiling stroll through nature, winding around enchanting landscapes and works of art that appeal to children is the best way to describe this wooded attraction. The Enchanted Forest around Parauta is not only a great excuse to visit the Ronda highlands, which have plenty of must-see spots, it also stimulates exercise and the imagination, and is a perfect day out in early autumn when the area is awash with different colours, fruits such as chestnuts and other elements typical of the beginning of the season.

3. Jorge Rando Museum, Malaga (Museo Jorge Rando, Málaga)

This is a modern museum in the city centre dedicated to expressionist art, a cultural and artistic movement of the 20th century that is characterised by colour and the representation of different sensations.

There's an exhibition space and additional rooms where visitors can explore art in a different and individual way with the aim of stimulating conversation, curiosity and emotion. Both admission to the museum and guided tours are free.

4. La Batería Park, Torremolinos (Parque de La Batería, Torremolinos)

A great place to relax or let off steam on the Costa del Sol, this is a large park with places for children to run, play and a large area with swings and playgrounds. In addition, there are cannons from the 20th century, bunkers, and exhibitions about the history of the park as a coastal defence. Visitors can climb the lookout tower that overlooks the coastline and provides great photo opportunities, or enjoy its lake.

The park is close to the Cercanías Montemar stop and has parking space as well as wide cycle paths, a stage and good shade. If all that's not enough, the beach, another free, family playground, is nearby.
