A selection of music by Carlos Gardel and Astor Piazzolla with a post-concert aperitif at the Murcia auditorium
The first in a series of four concerts comprising the 2020 Con Cierto Sabor cycle at the Auditorio Víctor Villegas in Murcia features the Art Tango Ensemble under the direction of Joaquín Palomares. As with all concerts in the cycle, tapas snacks and drinks are available after the concert as part of the package and while enjoying them members of the public can chat with the performers.
Art Tango will be performing “Tango Pasión”, a show dedicated to tracing the development of the tango paying tribute to two of its greats, Carlos Gardel (1890-1935) and Astor Piazzolla. (1921-1992), performed by Joaquín Palomares and Emilio Fenoy, on violin; Gonzalo Meseguer on the cello; Serafín Rubens on double bass; Albert Giménez on piano; and Orlando Dibello on the bandoneon (a type of concertina particularly popular in tango ensembles). The musical entertainment is complemented by dance from dance pair David y Victoria.
The programme includes popular tango classics; ‘Uno’ by Mariano Mores; ‘Primavera Porteña’, ‘Verano Porteño’, ‘Milonga del ángel’, ‘Otoño Porteño’ and ‘Invierno Porteño’ by Astor Piazzola; ‘Volver’, ‘Por una cabeza’, ‘El día que me quieras’ and ‘Melodía de arrabal’ by Carlos Gardel; ‘El choclo’ by Ángel Villoldo; ‘Orillera’ by Ángel Jasili; ‘La cumparsita’ de Gerardo H. Matos Rodríguez; and ‘A la guardia imperial’ by José Colángelo..
Tickets for each concert in the cycle are available at 15 euros, with a special offer of tickets for two events in the series for 24 euros. All events begin at 12.00 midday, with the entire cycle programmed as follows:
12th January: Art Tango Ensemble present music by tango greats Carlos Gardel and Astor Piazzolla.
16th February: Kinetic Percussion perform “Virtual Ghost”. The percussion duo formed by Rafael Mayans and Adrián García are joined by Alberto Marquina to play around 30 different instruments in pieces by Emmanuel Séjourne, Steve Reich, Josep Vicent, Tuud Wiener and Jarrid Elías.
22nd March: Ensemble Le Muse present a tribute to Ennio Morricone, whose career highlights of over 50 years in the cinema include the soundtracks of all Sergio Leone films since A Fistful of Dollars, The Mission, The Untouchables, Bugsy, In the Line of Fire and Cinema Paradiso and The Hateful Eight.
26th April: Alessia Martegiani and Di Fulvio Trio present “Carignoso”, a combination of elegant jazz and pop songs and the bossanova.
