Despite Valencia region being in the high risk zone, Alicante province remains in the extreme risk zone with an incidence rate of over 250
The number of new Covid diagnosis in the Valencia region continues to drop with the most recent update confirming 441 infections in the last 24 hours, but the incidence rate remains in the extreme risk zone (over 250).
According to the last data available, Valencia region's 14-day cumulative incidence rate now stands at 197.06 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (figure from August 30), placing the region in the high risk zone (incidence rate between 150 and 250).
Despite the Comunidad Valenciana having the third lowest rate in the country, after Asturias (94.33) and the Canaries (150.19), the province of Alicante remains persistently in the extreme risk zone, with a cumulative incidence rate of 264.43 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
New cases: 441 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of positives to 501,234 people. By provinces: 235 in Alicante (182,806 in total); 147 in Valencia (266,478 in total); and 59 in Castellón (51,948 in total).
Recoveries: 1,125 people have recovered since the last update, meaning 495,610 people have been given the all-clear since the start of the pandemic: 178,949 in Alicante province; 264,976 in Valencia; and 51,628 in Castellón.
Hospitalisations: there are currently 391 Covid patients being treated in Valencia’s hospitals, of whom 93 are in ICU: 166 in the province of Alicante, 47 in ICU; 163 in the province of Valencia, 37 in ICU; 62 in the province of Castellón, nine in ICU.
Fatalities: there have been 13 reported deaths in the last seven days, meaning the total now stands at 7,670 since March 2020: 2,919 in Alicante; 3,921 in Valencia; and 830 in Castellón.
Active cases: the new cases, fatalities and recoveries mean that the new number of active cases in the Valencia region is 9,405, which represent 1.83 per cent of the total positives.
Vaccinations: a total of 3,947,606 people have now received at least one dose and 3,445,156 are fully immunised.
