Music, parades and numerous shows and activities for children in Jumilla throughout the festive season

Throughout the Region of Murcia local Town Halls have programmed numerous activities during the Christmas, New Year and Three Kings season, the majority designed for children but with enough carol concerts, other musical events and grand parades to keep the grown-ups busy too, and Jumilla in the north of the Region is no exception.

Among the main venues for the events listed below is the Teatro Vico: tickets for all shows in the theatre are available at the box office both in advance (open Monday, Wednesday and Friday 18.00 to 20.00) and two hours before the curtain rises, as well as online at reservas.jumilla.org.

Thursday December 15

20.00: Opening of the exhibition “El Vino en la Historia del Arte” (Wine in the history of art) at the Museo del Vino.

Friday December 16

20.00: Ballet Ochoa and Pas de Trois perform The Nutcracker at the Teatro Vico. Tickets 6 euros, for further information click here.

20.30: The switching on of the Christmas illuminations in Fuente del Pino, followed by a concert given by the band of Nuestra Señora de las Lamentaciones.

Saturday December 17

10.00 to 13.00: Pottery workshop for all the family in La Alquería.

11.00: Children’s storytelling at the Ermita del Tercer Distrito, registration on 607 535784 (Tina).

12.00: Christmas storytelling at the municipal library, where registration is required.

16.00 to 19.00: A commercial fair, a concert, prize draws and other events in the Plaza de la Alcoholera. Click for further details.

16.00 to 19.00: A living “Belén” or nativity scene in the Plaza de la Constitución.

20.00: A flamenco Christmas concert at the Teatro Vico, Navidades Rocieras Sha Sha Vámonos. Admission 4/7/10 euros, all proceeds to the AECC charity.

Sunday December 18

10.00 to 13.00: Pottery workshop for all the family in La Alquería.

12.00: Christmas carol concert by the ColeCruz de Piedra primary school at the Teatro Vico.

10.00: Christmas petanca competition at the courts on Ronda Poniente.

10.00 to 20.00: Christmas market outside the Teatro Vico.

16.00 and 17.30: Father Christmas visits La Estacada and enjoys musical entertainment from the youth band of the Jumilla music society.

20.00: Carols and Gachamigueros concert in La Zarza.

20.00: Pesadilla antes de Navidad, a Christmas concert at the Teatro Vico, admission 10 euros.

Thursday December 22

20.00: Opening of an exhibition of autumnal photographs at the Museo Arqueológico.

Friday December 23

18.00: Christmas music for toddlers, La Pandilla de Drilo present Navidad Rock at the Teatro Vico. Admission 5 euros.

The Rutal Belenista begins, a route to all of the main Belenes (nativity scenes) on display in Jumilla.

20.30: The route receives a blessing at in the Chapel of Cristo Amarrado, followed by a concert.

Saturday December 24

17.00: The parade of Father Christmas in Fuente del Pino.

Monday December 26

10.30: Children’s Christmas Mass in the Museo del Rollo.

16.30: Ruta de los Árboles, a visit to Christmas trees in the town.

18.30: Villancicos en el Portal, carol singing at the parish church of San Juan.

19.00: Christmas Mass and concert to raise funds for the organ of the church of Santiago.

Wednesday December 28

19.00: Antipasti, street theatre in the Plaza de la Alcoholera.

Thursday December 29

11.00: Christmas decorations workshop at the Museo Etnográfico.

11.00 to 14.00 and 16.30 to 18.00: Children’s fairground attractions in the Jardín de la Glorieta.

Saturday December 31

11.00: Music for children from La Chica Charcos in the Plaza de Arriba as the clock strikes 12 midday and youngsters celebrate New Year.

11.00: Charity football match at the Pabellón Carlos García.

Monday January 2

Tuesday January 3

17.00: The Royal Postman takes delivery of letters addressed to the Three Kings at the Casa Misionera San José while a collection is made of toys for children in need.

Wednesday January 4

17.00: The Royal Postman is joined by the pages of the Court in collecting letters addressed to the Three Kings at the Town Hall and the Teatro Vico.

Thursday January 5

11.00: The Three Kings arrive in Jumilla and are officially received at the Town Hall.

17.00: The Grand Three Kings Parade in the town centre of Jumilla.

Sunday January 8

18.00: El Viaje de Melchor, festive entertainment at the Teatro Vico. Admission 5 euros.
