ARCHIVED - Hacienda Riquelme residents always look on the bright side of life!!!!
ARCHIVED ARTICLE
So we can´t meet in the bars.....well we'll just have to put on a balcony party instead!!!!!
It's been a week since the regional government of Murcia announced the first in what became a domino reaction of lockdowns, as first the regional and then the national governments took the massive step of imposing a lockdown on us all to limit the spread of coronavirus.
For some it's been a week of intense cleaning and cooking to pass the time, others confined by the lack of golf have discovered to their surprise that they have a wife.....some have spent the week posting bizarre images of themselves wearing flippers and a diving mask or with bras wrapped around their faces to fight off the virus on social media....and others have been busy planning ways of staying sane as the lockdown looks set to continue way past the initial 15 day period.
On Hacienda Riquelme tonight it's party night, (within reason, taking into consideration the neighbours who don´t want to party and are busy re-watching every episode of Game of Thrones and all of the Lord of the Rings films without coming up for air), and neighbours will take to their balconies at 10pm to share a few well-known songs of resistance; "I will survive" by Gloria Gaynor, "I will resist" by the Dynamic Duo and "Always look on the bright side of life" by the Monthy Python team are reported to be high on the agenda.
Ten people an hour are dying in Spain at the moment as the virus takes hold, so no-one is under any illusions as to how important this lockdown is, but it doesn´t have to be a miserable period of our lives....especially not if you live on Hacienda Riquelme!!!!
Note from the Ed. Don´t moan if we haven´t written about what your resort is doing to stay sane. Tell us about it, we're not psychic here you know !!!! Email: contact@murciatoday.com

What to do if you are in the Region of Murcia and believe you may have contracted the virus
The regional government has set up a special helpline to supply information to members of the public (900 121212), and also urges people to call the 112 emergency services line if they suspect that they may have contracted the virus rather than going straight to hospital or to a medical centre. Medical staff will be sent to your home to test for the virus.
The Region’s public hospitals have limited the number of visitors to just one per patient.
Sensible precautions
The advice being issued to members of the public by medical authorities all over the world coincides on the following points:
- Wash hands frequently with either soap and water or a sanitiser gel
- Catch coughs and sneezes with disposable tissues – and throw the tissues away immediately after use before immediately washing your hands!
- If you don’t have a tissue, use your sleeve – and wash the item of clothing used at the next opportunity
- AVOID touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
- AVOID close contact with people who are unwell
- Don´t panic!
