Hospital pressure, on the other hand, hasn’t budged since the last update on Monday October 3.
Coronavirus infections
The Region of Murcia has registered a total of 717 cases of coronavirus in the latest update published on Monday October 10, a considerable upswing on the 407 infections reported on the same day last week.
This brings the overall number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic to 457,353.
Of the total cases, 85,461 have been diagnosed in people over the age of 60.
Cumulative incidence rate
The latest data provided by the regional health authorities on Monday show that the 7-day cumulative incidence rate has taken another leap, increasing from 104.56 cases per 100,000 inhabitants to 121.32. Given that this figure is more than double the 14-day rate, it’s likely that the transmission of the virus will continue to increase.
Unfortunately, the more important average incidence over a two-week period has also increased from 202.41 cases to 225.88.
In this week’s report, the health authorities have only provided the data for people hospitalised in the Region as a direct result of coronavirus, rather than offering the number of people who have been admitted and are Covid-positive.
With this in mind, hospital pressure remains virtually unchanged. There are still 36 people hospitalised because of Covid, the same as last week, while the number of chronically ill patients being treated in intensive care has remained at two.
Five more Covid-related fatalities have been registered, bringing the overall death toll since the start of the health crisis to 2,451.
Covid testing
The Region of Murcia has carried out 3,175,094 PCR and antigen coronavirus detection tests.
Vaccination data
According to Spanish Ministry of Health data, 94% of the population of the Murcia Region over the age of 12 has had a least one dose. In addition, 93.60% of people are now double jabbed.
