There are currently just 10 people hospitalised with coronavirus in the Region of Murcia
The pandemic continues to loosen its grip in Murcia and this week, the community’s intensive care units have been emptied of Covid patients, while only 10 people have been admitted throughout the Region. Murcia is also holding its own in terms of the cumulative incidence rate, with the second best figure in Spain.
Coronavirus infections
A total of 465,367 cases of coronavirus have been detected in the Region of Murcia since the beginning of the pandemic, with just 124 new infections registered in the last week.
Of the total cases, 92,789 have been diagnosed in people over the age of 60, compared to 92,620 a week ago.
Cumulative incidence rate
The 14-day cumulative incidence rate has increased by seven points this week, sitting at 32.21 infections per 100,000 inhabitants.
In addition, the 7-day figure has crept up to more than double this number (16.77).
Despite this jump, the Region of Murcia still has the second-lowest incidence rate in the country after the autonomous city of Ceuta (13.02) and is well below the Spanish national average of 69.76 cases per 100,000.
Hospitalisations and fatalities
After a remarkable drop at the start of the month, hospital pressure has remained stable and relatively low according to the report released by the regional health authorities on Monday March 27.
There are currently just 10 patients admitted for Covid in the Region, compared to 14 admissions last week, while intensive care occupancy has once again dropped to zero.
Three new Covid-related fatalities have been registered, bringing the overall death toll since the start of the health crisis to 2,535.
Covid testing
The Region of Murcia has carried out 3,289,556 PCR and antigen coronavirus detection tests.
Vaccination data
According to Spanish Ministry of Health data, 92.8% of the population of the Murcia Region over the age of 12 has had a least one dose. In addition, 93.2% of people are now double jabbed.
