ARCHIVED - The two Camposol proposals come first and second in the first round of the Mazarrón Council Budget Participation Scheme
ARCHIVED ARTICLE -
As the first phase draws to a close the two Camposol proposals hold a considerable lead
Voting in the first round of the Mazarrón Council Budget Participation Scheme ended yesterday November 7 and the two proposals put forward by Camposol homeowners and residents hold a healthy lead over the other 34 proposals put forward for projects in various parts of the municipality.
Mazarrón Council invited citizens to submit small- to medium-sized projects for entry into a public vote as part of the Budget Participation Scheme and of the 97 propositions put forward from around the municipality 36 passed the validation phase. The two surviving Camposol proposals are:-
1) To complete sports facilities on Urbanisation Camposol (Sector D) - Sixth on the voting list
Proposal to continue development of Council sports facilities (football pitch completed in 2020) on remaining council land designated for sports use (ED-3), with concrete surface, 2 table tennis tables and other fitness equipment. Similar amenities are situated on Bolnuevo and La Rihuete beaches. The location of the proposed Camposol area will form an extension of the football facilities on Calle Nogales.
2) To create a safe exercise area for dogs in Camposol - Fifth on the voting list
This proposal is to create a facility of this type in the Camposol urbanisation, with a closed secure area and activity devices for the enjoyment of both dogs and owners, similar to the dog park recently opened to the public at La Charca, next to Mazarrón Park shopping area in Puerto de Mazarrón. With many pet dogs on the Camposol development an area of this type could prove extremely popular.
These two proposals landed 141 and 132 votes respectively to finish the first round in first and second places and will be accompanied into the next round by the proposal for an adapted vehicle for school use, which came third with 69 votes.
The success of the Camposol proposals is due in no small measure to the help supplied by the Camposol 2025 group who have offered assistance to negotiate the language barrier and voting system. The group also set up help desks at various locations around the commercial centres.
As the first stage of the voting process ends, the three proposals with the most votes will proceed to a run-off vote in order to establish the order of priority and the timing of their execution. Details of how the next round will be carried out are expected to be announced shortly.
