Vaccinations without appointment are also being offered in five other municipalities in the Marina Baixa region of Alicante province
Valencia's Regional Ministry of Health is reopening a walk-in Covid-flu vaccination centre in Benidorm in the Marina Baixa region of Alicante province next week, ahead of Christmas gatherings of friends and families.
Marina Baixa is one of the areas of the province, indeed the Valencia Community, with the lowest rate of vulnerable population that have been vaccinated this autumn against influenza and with the fourth dose of Covid-19.
And the health department has set itself the goal of significantly increasing the number of people inoculated with both vaccines as a measure of protection before the holidays.
To achieve a 70% inoculation rate, the walk-in vaccination centre, known as a 'vacunódromo' in Spain, is being reopened in Benidorm on Monday December 12.
The centre, on the ground floor of Casa del Fester Diego Cano Enguera in Calle La Biga, will be open from 3pm to 8pm until Friday December 16, offering the flu vaccine to those over 65 and people in risk groups, as well as the fourth Covid dose.
In addition, several health centres in the Marina Baixa have also set aside days and times for joint jabs, again prioritising over 65s and those with underlying health problems. They are as follows:
La Cala de Benidorm health centre is administering vaccinations on Friday December 9, from 11.30am to 2pm.
Foietes Health Centre, Benidorm: December 13 and 15, 10.30am to 8pm.
Altea Health Centre: December 14 and 15, 3.30pm to 8.30pm.
La Nucía Health Centre: December 14, 9am and 8pm.
Alfaz del Pi Health Centre: December 15, 3.30pm to 8.30pm.
Almàssera de Tonda Health Centre in Villajoyosa: December 19 to 2, 3pm to 8.30pm, and December 23 and 30, 9am to 2pm.
Callosa d'en Sarrià Clinic: Dates and times have yet to be confirmed.
Marina Baixa health department bosses have appealed to the public to "get vaccinated on the aforementioned days to prevent contracting either of these two diseases, and avoid serious symptoms that could require admission to the Marina Baixa Hospital, collapsing its facilities and the entire health system".
Earlier this week, the World Health Organisation (WHO), warned that there would be more cases of flu and Covid this year, viruses that could be more virulent or affect more people due the relaxation of protective measures.
