ARCHIVED - Bars and restaurants in 39 municipalities can re-open terraces from Wednesday
ARCHIVED ARTICLE
Only 6 municipalities remain on “red level” with their bars closed and movement restricted
Residents of the same 39 municipalities will be permitted to move between municipalities, the only exception being that those municipalities which remain on “red alert level” remain out-of-bounds.
Residents living within the red areas are not allowed to move to other municipalities for another week and their bars and restaurants remain fully closed.
The gradual improvement in the epidemiological situation in the region of Murcia has permitted a continued relaxation in the restrictions imposed to limit the spread of the coronavirus in the region, and on Monday the Covid Monitoring Committee agreed to permit bars and restaurants to re-open external terrace areas to a maximum of 75 per cent of their capacity in 39 municipalities.
Last week 20 municipalities were given the freedom to re-open their hostelry sector terraces and this week a further 19 have joined the list.
Only six municipalities remain at a level of extreme risk, namely Ulea, Beniel, Yecla, Abarán, Pliego and Cieza.
The remainder of the municipalities can re-open terraces to a maximum of 75 per cent capacity from Wednesday: Murcia, Cartagena, Lorca, Molina de Segura, Jumilla, Moratalla, Calasparra, Bullas, Mula, Campos del Río, Albudeite, Fortuna, Alguazas, San Javier, Santomera, Las Torres de Cotillas, Ceutí, San Pedro del Pinatar, Caravaca de la Cruz, Ricote, Alcantarilla, Torre Pacheco, Totana, Cehegín, Alhama de Murcia, Los Alcázares, Archena, La Unión, Lorquí, Mazarrón, Águilas, Abanilla, Fuente Álamo, Blanca, Puerto Lumbreras, Librilla, Villanueva del Río Segura, Aledo and Ojós.
In addition, two people who do not live in the same household may now meet socially, regardless of whether they do so in the domestic or public environment and either inside or outside. Two remains the maximum group size permitted to meet other than for families living within their own domestic bubble.
The closure of the external regional perimeter border remains in place as does the curfew from 22:00, so it is still not possible to cross into neighbouring Alicante province, for example.
The committee will meet again next Monday to re-evaluate the restrictions.
The changes will take effect from 00:01 on Wednesday morning, although obviously residents cannot move around until the curfew concludes at 6 a.m. and bars are unlikely to want to open until normal opening times!
