Camposol Refuse and recycling point - update from Silvana Buxton, Councillor for the urbanisation

Councillor for Camposol, Silvana Buxton addresses social media misinformation and exaggeration.
After receiving several emails referring to a new “Eco Park” on Sector C of the Camposol urbanisation, Councillor for Camposol, Silvana Buxton has released the following update:
“I am afraid this is what happens when people get their news through social media hysteria instead of reading the factual news, the recent Camposol Today article regarding the “refuse and recycling point” is correct, an Eco Park was not mentioned in the article and the "refuse and recycling point" has already been at that location for around 4 years, it was previously located on Calle Aljibe around 50 metres from the Sensol Hotel foyer. The benefits with the new planned facility are that the refuse and recycling containers which have been in situ as mentioned for 4 years will not be on the road and blocking the pavement, the facility will also “hopefully” stop people dumping old furniture and building rubble in the road, the containers and space for old furniture etc will be off road and managed and kept tidy by the staff.
The facility will also put an end to the 3 gardening skips and piles of junk furniture regularly languishing on nearby poligono C8 which is in full view of hotel rooms, hotel spa, golf course and Clubhouse. These will be relocated to the refuse and recycling facility which will only be available to Camposol homeowners and in effect will only be used by people on C Sector and possibly D Sector as it is at the moment.
As the Camposol Today article also says the council is planning a “buffer zone” which may be planted with trees/hedges etc. At the moment the council is attempting to communicate with the hotel owner with the intention of organising a joint project.
There also seems to be some scaremongering about hordes of heavy vehicles driving round the urbanisation, whereas in fact there will be the same number of vehicles servicing the facilities as there are now, with the possible exception of an extra garden waste collection per week to alleviate the current overflowing skips.
As for consulting with residents, this really isn’t a big issue the collection point is already there, the council is just responding to complaints about the state of it and the C8 site. It should also be remembered that in Spain the authorities legally and officially communicate and consult with urbanisations through the managing board of Urbanistic Entities or the administrators of Community of Owners, Camposol does not have a functioning Urbanistic Entity and the nearest poligonos C2, C4 and C5, all more than 200 metres away, have not constituted their Communities, which is their choice but leaves the Council without any legal and official route of extensive communication with homeowners. Although Camposol does have a resident’s association this does not have the same legal capacity plus it can only act on behalf of its members.”
