ARCHIVED - Coronavirus lockdown breaker detained for walking an undocumented sheep in Marbella
ARCHIVED ARTICLE
The owner also failed to provide sufficient documentation regarding his pet dog
Almost five weeks after the coronavirus pandemic caused the declaration of a state of emergency throughout Spain and the enforcement of lockdown restrictions some people are still attempting to find ways to beat the law and go out into the streets, and one of the latest concerns a man who was found walking a sheep in Marbella, in the province of Málaga.
The owner of the animal claimed that he was merely exercising his rights in the same way as dog owners are allowed to take their pets outside, and in fact he was also accompanied by a dog at the time. But the sheep was found not to be registered correctly and the owner was unable to provide any documentation proving its identity or that it had received the required veterinary treatment and vaccinations. (cloven footed animals such as sheep and goats have to be formally registered with the authorities and the owners comply with a programme of blood testing and vaccinations annually to ensure conditions such as foot and mouth and blue tongue aren´t spread; it's a very serious offence not to have animals properly registered and tagged as so many legal farmers depend on the health of their stock for their livelihoods).
To compound the wrongdoings, similar shortcomings were found in the documentation relating to the dog, and in consequence the man has now been reported for offences related to the health and protection of animals as well as being fined for breaching the lockdown regulations!!!
Remember: LOCKDOWN MEANS LOCKDOWN. STAY AT HOME. STAY SAFE AND DO YOUR BIT TO REDUCE THE SPREAD OF CORONAVIRUS.

What to do if you are in the Region of Murcia and believe you may have contracted the virus
The regional government has set up a special helpline to supply information to members of the public (900 121212) if they suspect that they may have contracted the virus rather than going straight to hospital or to a medical centre.
Sensible precautions
The advice being issued to members of the public by medical authorities all over the world coincides on the following points:
- Wash hands frequently with either soap and water or a sanitiser gel
- Catch coughs and sneezes with disposable tissues – and throw the tissues away immediately after use before immediately washing your hands!
- If you don’t have a tissue, use your sleeve – and wash the item of clothing used at the next opportunity
- AVOID touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
- AVOID close contact with people who are unwell
- Don´t panic!
