ARCHIVED ARTICLE
The cumulative incidence rate in Andalucía rises by 75.73 points in just five days and the situation in the region’s hospitals is causing concern amongst the health authorities
The latest update published on July 16 by the regional government details 3,610 new confirmed cases of coronavirus in Andalucía during the last 24-hour period, making this Friday the second consecutive day with over 3,500 daily cases.
Málaga continues to have the highest percentage of daily cases in Andalucía (1,170), followed by Sevilla (631), Cádiz (531), Granada (368), Córdoba (318), Almería (223), Huelva (209) and Jaén (160).
The daily Covid cases have been increasing steadily this week, with 3,169 on Sunday and Monday (combined figure), 2,906 on Tuesday, 2,901 on Wednesday, 3,561 on Thursday and, the highest figure this week, 3,610 cases on Friday: almost 1,000 more than last Friday’s figure of 2,800 (July 9).
As the number of daily cases continues to soar, the cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 residents in the past 14 days is also increasing and is now 353.6: 18.7 points higher than yesterday’s figure of 333.89 (July 15).
Cataluña is currently reporting the highest rate in Spain with 1,107 cases per 100,000 followed by Castilla y León which has 825, so although the rate in the region is considerably higher than a month ago, it is by no means the highest.
Comparing the incidence rate to the beginning of this week (July 12), when the figure was 277.87, there has been an alarming upwards trend in the past five days, with an increase of 75.73 points since Monday.

So far, 5,127,569 people in Andalucía have had at least one dose of a Covid vaccine (72.60 per cent of the population over the age of 16); and 4,319,150 have been completely innoculated against the virus (61.58 per cent of over 16s).
