Two cruises coming from England and North America docked in Cartagena this morning
The ships Aurora, belonging to P&O Cruises, and Seven Seas Splendor, of the Regent Seven Seas shipping company, docked early this morning at the Port of Cartagena in a double stopover that has brought more than 2,400 passengers to Cartagena, Spain.
“A big week for Cartagena in terms of cruise ship arrivals with seven ships and two double stopovers in one of the best months of the year for the Port of Cartagena,” said the vice president of the Port Authority, Pedro Pablo Hernández. “The arrival of tourists on board cruise ships has a great impact on trade and hospitality in the city and is key to the tourism sector that offers a package of activities ranging from nature as horse riding or diving, to gourmet gastronomic experiences and tapas. All of this is enriched by a great archaeological and cultural heritage with the largest number of museums and interpretation centres in cities the size of Cartagena.”

Aurora (P&O)
At 8am, the cruise ship Aurora docked at the Juan Sebastián de el Cano Terminal, coming from Southampton and bound for Calgliari, with 1,729 British tourists and 850 crew members, on a new visit to Cartagena.
The ship, weighing more than 76,000 tons, is 270 metres long and 32 metres wide and officially came into operation in 2000, having been christened by Princess Anne in Southampton. It was designed as a modern and upgraded version of the MV Oriana, and was built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, at a budget of 375 million euros.
The Aurora has 900 cabins (621 outside) and is exclusively for adults. It was refitted in 2014, during which time the vessel was the first of P&O’s ships to receive an updated UK flag design on its bow and its funnel repainted from yellow to blue.
Seven Seas Splendor (Regent Seven Seas)
At 9am, 726 passengers from North America arrived aboard the Seven Seas Splendor, considered one of the world’s most sophisticated cruise ships, coming from Malaga and bound for Barcelona.
Built in Italy by Fincantieri and christened by the actress and model Christie Brinkles in 2020, it completes the Regent Seven Seas fleet of five ships, raising the bar of exclusivity even higher. Despite her remarkable dimensions, at 223 metres in length and 56,182 tons, she can only accommodate 750 tourists, served by 540 crew members, a ratio that reflects the level of service on board.
This week, the ship Star Pride, of the Star Clipper shipping company, will also call at Cartagena tomorrow, Friday April 14, and the ships Star Flyer, of the same company, and Clio, of the Grand Circle Cruise Line, will dock over the weekend.
