El Niño New Year lottery brings luck to the Region of Murcia
The second and third prizes in the second Christmas lottery brought a windfall to several Murcia towns
The Region of Murcia has celebrated a stroke of luck in this year’s El Niño lottery, with both the second and third prizes gracing the area after being called on Monday January 6. The Sorteo Extraordinario de El Niño remains one of Spain’s most cherished lottery traditions, providing excitement and joy on El Día de los Reyes Magos. For the lucky winners in Murcia, 2025 has certainly started with a smile.
The second prize, worth €750,000 per series (€75,000 per décimo, or tenth of a ticket), was awarded to the number 06776, sold in two locations within the Region. One was the L'Agustinica lottery administration on Paseo Florencia in Murcia city, where owner Pepe Imbernón confirmed that 10 décimos were sold. The other winning outlet was Administration No. 3 on Larga Street in Mazarrón.
While El Niño prizes are smaller compared to the Christmas lottery El Gordo, this draw is considered more rewarding for participants due to its higher likelihood of smaller wins. The first prize of El Niño offers €2,000,000 per series (€200,000 per décimo), compared to El Gordo’s €4,000,000 per series (€400,000 per décimo). However, El Niño’s structure includes more opportunities to win through approximations and matching endings.
The third prize, 66.777, worth €250,000 per series (€25,000 per décimo), was widely distributed across the Region of Murcia. Lucky winners purchased their tickets in Yecla, San Pedro del Pinatar, Lorquí, Abanilla, Cobatillas, and La Vereda (Cartagena).
In Yecla, tickets were sold at two locations: Administration No. 2 on Corredera Street and a stall on Rambla Street. In San Pedro del Pinatar, the ticket was sold at the well-known lottery outlet El Perolo. Other winners purchased tickets in Lorquí on Pedro Gil Street, in Abanilla’s Administration No. 2 on Carretera Orihuela, in Cobatillas on Carretera de Alicante, and in La Vereda on Vereda de San Félix Street.
This year’s first prize, 78908, was sold entirely in León, in northern Spain, bypassing the Region of Murcia.
