Feb 2-4 Orihuela Medieval street market

Free buses have been organised from Orihuela Costa to the city over the weekend

Councillor for Festivities Rocío Ortuño has announced the upcoming XXIV edition of the Medieval Market, scheduled to take place on February 2, 3 and 4 in Orihuela. Highlighting the event's focus on cultural exchange, Ortuño noted that "next weekend, we will revisit historical moments from a bygone era where Jewish, Arab and Christian cultures peacefully coexisted in one location."

She also revealed that this year's market will feature a new route spanning from the Plaza de Santiago to the Diocesan School of Santo Domingo and will be organised into three distinct zones.

The first zone, situated between Plaza Santiago and Calle Colón, promises to delight visitors with a dragon village, the popular birds of prey display and an assortment of children's games and crafts workshops. There will also be plenty of unexpected surprises along the way.

Moving on to zone two, located between Calle Mayor and Plaza de San ta Lucía, spectators can enjoy impressive large-scale performances and browse through the wares of skilled artisans stationed in Plaza de Ramón Sijé. Youngsters won't want to miss out on the expansive children's play area set up in Plaza del Salvador.

As you make your way from Plaza Santa Lucía to Santo Domingo, you'll find yourself immersed in the Arab sector of the market, complete with captivating displays, lively music and dynamic dance performances. Don't miss the thrilling Great Knights Tournament taking place in the Rincón Hernandiano.

As usual, there will be plenty of refreshments on offer in Plaza Teniente Linares, Plaza de Santa Lucía and Plaza Dr. Jaime Sanchez, with gluten free options also available.

The market will officially open at noon on Friday February 2.

Parking facilities

The car parks will be located next to the AVE, behind the Álvarez de la Riva Health Centre and in the Los Huertos grounds.

Free buses from Orihuela Costa

For the duration of the Medieval Market, the Department of Tourism is going to launch a free bus service from Orihuela Costa, for which it will be necessary to make a reservation through the official website.

On Friday February 2, two 54-seater buses will depart from Playa Flamenca at 11am, returning from Orihuela city at 6pm.
Saturday February 3 (accessible bus), two 54-seater buses will depart from Playa Flamenca at 11am, returning from Orihuela city at 6pm.
Sunday February 4, one 54-seater bus will depart from Playa Flamenca at 11am, returning from Orihuela city at 6pm.
