ARCHIVED ARTICLE Despite the good news, one more death from Covid has been recorded over the weekend

There were 22 new Covid infections in Murcia in the last 24 hours of the weekend, bringing the total number of active cases to 628, 209 fewer than on Thursday. Five of the new cases were in Lorca, four in Totana, another four in Murcia, and the rest in various municipalities in the region.
New infections
The 22 positive cases recorded this weekend are a continuation of the positive downward trend in the region, marking a decrease of 209 in the total number of active cases compared to Thursday.
Cumulative incidence rate
The average 7-day cumulative incidence rate for the Region of Murcia now stands at 24.2 per 100,000 people. In may places the rate is significantly lower, even at 0, but the average is brought up by an outbreak in the municipality of Ulea, where the incidence rate is 353.4 per 100,000 inhabitants.
Hospitalisations
There are still 58 people admitted to hospitals in Murcia. Of these, 44 are on the ward, aged between 38 and 92 years, and 14 patients aged between 19 and 80 are in the ICU.
A full 90% of all those admitted have not been vaccinated.
Deaths
There was another death from Covid – a 62-year-old from Lorca. This brings the number of deaths in Murcia to 1,736 since the pandemic began in March last year.
Recoveries
There are now a total of 138,465 people who have recovered from coronavirus in Murcia.
Vaccinations
A total of 2,210,526 doses have now been administered, which brings the number of fully vaccinated people in Murcia to 1,145,628. The vaccination campaign continues, with health authorities in the region hoping to immunise around 23,000 people this week.
Given the pace of vaccination, the current vaccination points and schedules will be modified during October. Thus, Nueva Condomina will remain open until October 17 and after this date vaccinations will be carried out at the municipal vaccination point located in the Salitre garden.
The mass vaccination points at the Rambla de Cartagena and the Felipe VI pavilion in Lorca will remain open throughout the month of October. In all health areas, vaccinations will continue to be carried out in the health centres that have been specifically designated to continue the campaign.
Vaccinate without prior appointment are still available. As of today, there are 124,500 people yet to be vaccinated in the Region of Murcia, though 87.4% of the immunisable population has already been fully vaccinated (75.7% of the total population).
