Get ready for a drenching: Andalusia weekly weather forecast January 15-21
ARCHIVED ARTICLE -
Expect strong winds, driving rain for days on end and a drop in temperatures this week
Andalucía weather forecast, Friday January 19
While the south of Spain enjoyed a beautiful sunny weekend just gone, the rains will storm their way south across the country this week to rain on our parade, and there will be windy episodes and falling temperatures in Andalucía to match.
On Monday January 15, the coastal areas of Andalucía like Cádiz, Málaga and Almería will enjoy plentiful sunshine, with some generalised cloud cover, while inland areas will be subject to dark, heavy clouds all day, with foggy patches and rain in the north of the community.

The morning of Tuesday January 16 brings more fog to many parts of Andalucía, and rain towards the afternoon sweeping in from the Atlantic side to cover Huelva, Sevilla, Jaén and Granada, as well as parts of Málaga.

But Wednesday 17 is going to be the real rainy day, with heavy showers pelting down all day across the entire region except for the far-eastern border where Andalucía meets Murcia.

However, in those areas on the east coast, yellow weather warnings will be in place from 10am until midnight on Wednesday for strong winds of 50-60kmh (gale force 7) winds on the coast of Almería, creating waves up to 3 metres high, and for windspeeds of up to 70kmh in the inland parts of Almería and Jaén. A similar warning is in place from the start of the day up until 8pm on the coasts of Huelva and Cádiz, around the Strait of Gibraltar – where waves could reach as high as 4-5 metres – and in Seville, which will have torrential rain.

The rain continues to pour down on Thursday 18 (when there are more yellow warnings in Almería for strong winds) and on Friday 19, only beginning to let up on Friday evening. However, that same Friday is when minimum temperatures at night-time drop significantly, bringing chillier nights for the weekend.
Saturday 20 should be drier overall, with plenty of sunshine and cloud cover for most of the region, with some lingering rain on the coasts of Cádiz and Málaga, and showery spells in Granada, Jaén and Córdoba. However, Sunday 21 will remain overcast and there are still chances of occasional showers springing up here and there.
