All Covid indicators continue to fall in Alicante province and the rest of the Valencia region
Covid health data continues to improve in the Valencia region where the 14-day cumulative incidence rate has fallen below the 500 per 100,000 bar that the Spanish Government considers to be an indicator of a situation of “very high” risk, and now stands at 442.6 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
New daily infections have dropped for the fourth consecutive day, as have hospital admissions and the number of critically ill Covid patients in ICU.
The regional Ministry of Health has reported 2,439 new cases, lower than the 2,729 cases on Wednesday, 2,518 on Tuesday, and 3,744 on Monday (72 hours). This brings the total number of positives since the beginning of the pandemic to 1,301,666 people.
By province: 200 have been recorded in Castellón (156,922 in total), 677 in Alicante (454,389) and 1,562 in Valencia (690,351). The number of unassigned cases has risen to four.
According to the health data, there are currently 23,306 active cases, which represent 1.77% of the total positives.
Hospitalisations
There are currently 746 people admitted to hospital with Covid, 66 fewer than on Monday February 28, 75 of them in ICU (15 less in 72 hours): 104 in the province of Castellón, 7 in ICU; 228 in the province of Alicante, 27 of them in ICU; and 414 in the province of Valencia, 41 in ICU.
4,459 people have overcome the virus since the last update, which means the total number of recoveries since the start of the pandemic now stands at 1,280,743.
By provinces, the recoveries are distributed as follows: 154,845 in Castellón, 446,928 in Alicante and 678,911 in Valencia. The number of unassigned cases now stands at 59.
Fatalities
Eleven Covid-related deaths have been reported since Wednesday. All of the deaths occurred in the last seven days, with the exception of one in January, and bring the overall death toll since the start of the health crisis in the Valencia region to 9,058: 1,046 in the province of Castellón, 3,451 in Alicante and 4,561 in Valencia.
The deceased are seven men aged between 69 and 93, and four women between 76 and 97-years-old.
