The incidence rate is still climbing, but at a slower rate than before, while the number of new cases remains steady

14-day incidence rate in Andalucía since March 2020

Infection rates have stayed relatively stable across this week, although the number of daily cases is still eye-wateringly high. In the last 24 hours, there were 13,713 new cases in Andalucía, compared with 12,341 and 15,471 on December 31.

New infections

In the last day, 13,713 new cases of the disease have been diagnosed, while on Thursday January 6 there were 12,341, barely more than the 13,344 the previous Thursday, December 30, which bodes well for the region.

Cumulative incidence rate

The incidence rate of Covid-19 in Andalucía continues to rise, with 26 points more in the last day, and stands at 1,601.8 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days. This represents a slight slowdown in the last couple of days as the incidence rate has risen by fewer than 100 points since Monday.

Córdoba continues to be the province with the highest incidence rate of the disease, with 2,302 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, and Huelva has the lowest rate, with 1,282.6 cases.

Hospitalisations

It is estimated that 59,901 people are currently hospitalised with coronavirus in Andalucía, with just over 10% of them in the ICU. Of those hospitalised, just 450 were admitted this week, a mere 24 of whom went into intensive care.

Deaths

The death toll since the start of the pandemic has now risen to 11,526 with the addition of 24 more deaths in the last seven days. In the last 24 hours, the number of deaths from the coronavirus fell to just four, a figure so low that it has not been recorded since 17 December, when there were three deaths.

Recovered

More than 5,000 infected people have recovered from Covid this week, and now there are 829,821.

Vaccinations

The latest stats show that 82% of the regional population older than 5 years old have been fully vaccinated and 85.6% have had their first jab, which leaves the percentages unchanged since the beginning of this week.
