Road improvement works on Avenida del Mediterráneo and Avenida del Alamillo in Puerto de Mazarrón have started
On Avenida del Mediterráneo the project incorporates a cycle lane along with pedestrian areas, parking and traffic areas, improving mobility in the area
On Tuesday, October 24, the Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, and the Councillor for Urban Planning and Infrastructure, Gaspar Miras, witnessed the start of the remodeling works on Avenida del Mediterráneo in Puerto de Mazarrón, an important part of the redevelopment plan 'Mazarrón Urbano'. The Mayor and Councillor visited the works together with Antonio Lario, the manager of the civil engineering company Pavimentos Asfálticos Lario.
This comprehensive transformation of Avenida del Mediterráneo (with a budget of 548,519.59 euros plus 115,189.12 euros VAT) covers a section that connects the La Isla neighborhood with the Vía Axial. The estimated duration of the work is six months, during which a series of fundamental improvements will be carried out. The project, developed by the consulting firm Cauce Proyectos y Obras, includes the renovation of sanitation, stormwater, telecommunications, lighting, road surface and pavement facilities.
In addition, the creation of green areas with an irrigation system will be carried out and modern signage will be implemented. A notable component is the incorporation of a new cycle lane that will connect with pedestrian areas, parking and traffic areas, significantly improving mobility in the area.
Mayor Ginés Campillo highlighted "the importance of this comprehensive remodeling, highly demanded by the residents of Puerto de Mazarrón and within a commitment to sustainability." Among the key improvements, the mayor detailed, "includes the incorporation of a bicycle lane to promote sustainable mobility, the planting of palm trees to offer shade to pedestrians and the modernisation of public lighting that we will extend to the entire municipality."
For his part, the Councillor for Urban Planning, Gaspar Miras, pointed out that “work has finally begun after weeks of preparation” and that the project “encompasses the urbanisation and comprehensive remodeling of Avenida del Mediterráneo and involves the creation of a new pavement, the installation of improved channeling for lighting, as well as the renovation of sidewalks and urban furniture.”
Antonio Lario, manager of Pavimentos Asfálticos Lario, shared his commitment and vision regarding the transformation works on Avenida del Mediterráneo in Puerto de Mazarrón. Lario has expressed his determination to carry out this work efficiently and within the stipulated time, despite the complexity and diversity of infrastructure involved.
Paseo del Alamillo
The second project which started on Wednesday, October 25, is the construction of Paseo del Alamillo along the eastern end of the Puerto de Mazarrón seafront. A section of Avenida del Alamillo will be closed to traffic, between the intersection with Avda. Narciso Yepes and the RM-332 roundabout where the fishing boat is located. Estimated duration of the closure is 1 month.
Access will be maintained for residents of the southern area of the El Alamillo Urbanisation (Calle Cabo de Peñas and surroundings) from the RM-332 roundabout.
It will be signposted as an alternative route through RM-332, Calle Caminos Cruzados and Avda. Narciso Yepes.
The local authorities thank residents and drivers for their understanding and collaboration during this period of works. It is strongly requested that site signs are respected and that alternative routes are planned in advance to avoid unnecessary delays.
