Meet the lucky dogs rehomed by Friends of Mazarrón Animals in January
Offering a new beginning to abandoned and unwanted dogs and cats in the Mazarrón area

As another month draws to a close, Friends of Mazarrón Animals (FMA) looks back on the lives they have helped change. While the number of rescues may seem like just a drop in the ocean, for each and every dog that has been saved, it has meant the world.
Thanks to the dedication of adopters, the collaboration with fellow rescue organisations and the generosity of foster homes, several dogs have been given a fresh start away from the Mazarrón animal shelter. Among those who found their forever families this month are:
Boston (Toddy), Mille (Marzipan), Paddy, Bistro, Tinker, Wanda (Rumba), La La, Laika, Ginny, Jake, Tug, Poppy and Eggnog (Adam).
Meanwhile, several other shelter dogs have been reserved and are eagerly awaiting their new homes:
Tipsey, Marty, Antea, Woody, Maxwell, Donny Bod and Ronny Boy.
With the hunting season ending, the number of abandoned and unwanted dogs continues to rise. Tragically, this is a time when many hunting breeds, particularly galgos and podencos, are discarded by their owners without a thought.
So far this year, FMA has stepped in to help 15 galgos and 2 podencos, funding their medical preparation and sterilisation so they can begin a life free from neglect and abuse.
While it has been a fantastic month for dog rescues, January has been heartbreakingly quiet for cat adoptions. Not a single cat was able to leave the shelter, despite the many beautiful felines still waiting for a home. The team urges supporters to share their cat adoption posts, as just one extra share could be the difference between a cat finding a loving family or remaining in the shelter.
How you can help
None of this life-saving work would be possible without the compassion and generosity of the community. Whether through adopting, fostering, donating, volunteering or simply spreading the word, every effort makes a difference.

Friends of Mazarrón Animals help to rehome unwanted and abandoned animals in the Mazarrón area.
The primary aim of the association FMA is to help unwanted and abandoned animals in the Mazarrón area. They are a non-profit making association, run by volunteers, whose main aim is to re-home animals - many are sent abroad through their work with other charities. They have no kennels so the money they receive goes towards veterinary care costs as well as the costs of re-homing. They rely on donations and funding and run many events to raise funds.
