Murcia weekend weather forecast March 20-23: Muddy rain, wind alerts and storms
Expect a continuation of the rainy weather we’ve had up until now, this time combined with Saharan dust to make muddy rain
Murcia weather forecast, Friday March 21
It’s going to be a lovely, sunny Thursday in the Region of Murcia, according to the forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), followed by a weekend that brings showers, storms, Saharan dust and strong coastal winds. The downpour continues!
We have some respite from the rain this Thursday March 20, with clear and sunny skies and temperatures rising up to 20-22ºC. Aemet notes there will be “mist and fog” first thing in the morning, followed by some calima dust hanging in the air towards the evening. They also forecast “light to moderate easterly winds, occasionally strong on the coast and high areas in the early morning, decreasing at the end of the day”.

These winds will get stronger over the next couple of days, and the coastline of Murcia is on yellow alert for strong winds of 50-60kmh and waves of up to 2-3 metres high between 12pm and 8pm on Friday March 21. While temperatures will stay at the same level, it will also be much rainier on Friday, with the calima combining with the rain to create ‘muddy rain’, especially for the first part of the day. The rain and clouds should clear away towards the afternoon, though.

Saturday morning should be nice, too, but on Saturday afternoon we can expect more showers, gentler this time. However, the same stretch of coastline is once again on yellow alert for strong winds all day long, from 6am until midnight.

Sunday 23 also brings strong winds first thing in the morning, then becoming more moderate as they day goes on. However, Sunday afternoon brings thunderstorms and more rainfall to virtually the entire Region, plus a dip in temperatures that will last us into next week.

It will keep raining on and off for the next week, but the Aemet forecast is for next Wednesday, March 26, to finally be a dry and sunny day. But don’t worry, there’s plenty of time for that forecast to change!
