The last few days have been marked by a succession of storms that have wreaked havoc in large parts of Spain, resulting in widespread flooding, downed trees and even cancelled flights.
By midweek, storms Bernard and Aline will have passed but a new weather front is approaching, which will bring more heavy rain and blustery episodes, particularly in northern Spain.

On Thursday October 26 the rain is expected to travel from the northwest to the southeast as the day goes on, but it’s unlikely to reach the Mediterranean. On the other hand, the stormy intervals will be heaviest in the northwest, especially Galicia, and much more dispersed further east and south.
It will be slightly overcast in the Mediterranean with the cloud cover increasing towards the evening, although the temperatures will continue to climb, reaching a summery 31ºC in Murcia.
Orange alert for storms: Galicia.
Yellow alert for gusts of wind / storms / heavy rain: Andalucia, Aragon, Asturias, Balearic Islands, Cantabria, Castilla y Leon, Castilla-La Mancha, Catalonia, Extremadura, Basque Country, La Rioja, Valencian Community.
Forecast for Friday
By Friday October 27 the Atlantic front will have reached the Mediterranean area, leaving cloudy skies and morning showers in most parts. As with Thursday, the heaviest rain will be confined to northern Spain. Daytime temperatures will drop almost across the board.
Cloudy or overcast skies will be the order of the day in the northwest on Saturday October 28 with more rain forecast in the entire west of the country which could extend to the extreme south and parts of Andalucia in the afternoon.
Daytime temperatures will tend to increase slightly in most of the country but decrease a little in the south and east as well as the Balearic Islands.
Orange alert for storms: Galicia.
Yellow alert for storms: Asturias, Cantabria, Basque Country.
Forecast for Sunday
The influence of the Atlantic front will continue on Sunday October 29, which will cross the country from the west, creating cloudy skies and locally strong and persistent rain in the south of Galicia. Occasionally stormy episodes are also possible along the Atlantic coast.
The mercury will experience few changes, although night-time temperatures could increase slightly inland.
