Rubbish holiday: WATCH as British tourist is rescued from Malaga city bin

Holiday high jinx comes to a messy end for one young Costa del Sol tourist
A young British tourist found himself in a sticky situation while on a recent holiday in Malaga when he found himself stuck in a city-centre bin and was unable to escape until firefighters came to rescue him.
Hilarious footage has emerged of the UK teen grappling at the sides of an underground organic waste bin in Plaza Uncibay in the early hours of Thursday morning, June 8. These rubbish containers look like any other from the outside, but they’re deeper than they seem and the sides are flush, making a quick exit virtually impossible.
The British lad had been enjoying a late night on the Costa del Sol with some pals when he either climbed into the street-side container, or was pushed as part of a prank gone wrong. Either way, elbow-deep in veg shavings, the teen was stuck, as his friends and several passersby were unable to free him.
After more than 30 minutes stewing in the smelly trash, members of the Malaga fire brigade pulled the boy to safety. At least six members of the Local and National Police were also on hand to witness the show.
While this event may be amusing and put us in mind of other silly ‘foreigners abroad’ stories, it’s exactly the kind of scene Malaga residents have been campaigning against. Locals living in the city centre have been petitioning for measures to curb the drunken antics and late-night partying of tourists, and cameras were recently installed for this very reason in Plaza Uncibay, and in calles Méndez Núñez, Casapalma and Calderería, where most places stay open until after 2am.
“The residents of the Center have been warning of this type of situation for years. These are not specific, sporadic or isolated events. They are becoming more frequent, and we no longer even have to wait for a weekend for them to occur. In the middle of the week, uncivil and vandal acts occur continuously. At this rate, if no one remedies it, we are headed towards an irreversible degradation of the ‘Malagaluf’ type,” warned Carlos Carrera, president of the Association of Neighbors of the Old Center of Malaga.
