The festivities in La Majada are held in honour of the Virgen de la Purísima Concepción

The annual fiestas of the village and district of La Majada, a few kilometres west of the town of Mazarrón, are held in honour of the Virgen de la Purísima Concepción and the program for the 2022 celebrations includes the following:

Saturday September 1

18.00: Ladies’ and children’s petanca competitions begin.

18.30: Football tournament.

20.00: Theatre: “Velorio de Vicente Vargas El Flipao” performed by the Puntas de Calnegre drama society.

22.00: Board and table games begin with the first phase of the chinchón tournament.

23.00: Official opening of the fiestas at the church of La Purísima and a performance by the local artist Tanya.

Sunday September 2

18.00: 2nd annual brick hurling contest!

18.30: Finals of the ladies’ and children’s petanca competitions.

22.00: Board and table games continue with brisca and UNO.

Monday September 3

22.00: Board and table games continue with parchís, poker and truque.

Tuesday September 4

22.00: Board and table games come to an end with the finals.

Wednesday September 5

22.00: Come and help the locals prepare the traditional “pestiños” (deep-fried dough with honey and sugar) while they decorate the main fiestas venue.

Thursday September 6

20.00: Children’s cinema in the La Majada theatre.

22.00: Speech by María Dolores Munuera Martínez, known locally as “Lola de la Finca”, followed by the election of Miss and Míster Majada.

23.00: Folk music and dancing from the Cuadrilla de Morata.

00.00: Live music and dancing from the “Dolce Vitta” orchestra, with a raffle throughout the evening.

Friday September 7

22.00: Music and dancing from the “San Juan” sevillanas group, from Morata.

23.00: More music as the festivities continue.

00.00: Traditional “migas ruleras” cooking competition, main ingredients supplied by the fiestas committee.

00.30: The House of Horror opens!

03.00: Mobile disco hosted by “Dj Fran”.

The evening also features the traditional Gran Piñata, with hundreds of prizes!

Saturday September 8, El Día de la Purísima Concepción

08.00: The bells sound to begin the day of the patron of the village.

11.00: Water party – bring a water pistol and prepare to have fun!

13.00: The church bells of La Majada call the residents to an aperitif including ham and potatoes with garlic mayonnaise.

14.00: Cooking competition featuring local dishes – take part and prepare your finest Murcia dishes!

14.30: Neighbourhood lunch in the “El Puente” restaurant (bookings on 968 590498).

18.00: Holy Mass in honour of the Virgen de la Purísima Concepción followed by a procession with the figure of the Virgin through the village.

22.00: Fancy dress party with music from the “Espartera” orchestra.

23.30: Live music from David Andreu “El Morao”.

During the evening a full shopping basket will be put up for raffle.

Sunday September 9

12.00: Classic car and motorcycle rally, bring your own vehicle along!

14.00: Giant paella for all!

15.30: A dessert competition is held.

16.00: Raffle for a large food hamper.

18.00: Pet competition – bring your animal friend along and see if you can win one of the fabulous prizes!

18.30: Motorbike “Corrida de cintas”.

22.00: Music from Deja Vu.

23.00: Prizegiving for all the competitions held during the week, and the election of Miss and Míster Visitante 2022.

23.30: Sample the Delicious pestiños with hot chocolate before the firecrackers and Fireworks which signal the end of the 2022 fiestas of La Majada.
