The Valencia region, including Alicante province, now has the second lowest incidence rate in Spain
According to the latest update from the Ministry of Health on Tuesday September 14, 176 new Covid cases were recorded in 24 hours – the lowest since June 15 and 456 less than were reported on Monday.
Meanwhile, the 14-day cumulative incidence rate in the Valencia region continues to fall and is now the second lowest in the country with 75.85 cases per 100,000 people, behind Asturias (39.95) and more than 30 points below the national average (109.38).
In terms of age group, the highest incidence continues to be within the 12- to 19-year-old bracket, despite having fallen 20.26 points since Monday, and now stands at 119.19 cases. Whilst above the 100 threshold, it remains lower than the national average of 140.
Pressure on hospitals is also easing with 2.18 per cent of the region's ward beds now occupied by Covid patients, and 3.74 per cent of those in ICUs, again lower than the national average of 8.2 and 12.41 per cent respectively.
New cases
On Tuesday September 14, a further 176 Covid cases were reported in Valencia region. This is down from the 632 cases reported on Monday and brings the total number of positives since the beginning of the pandemic to 506,570. By province, 25 in Castellón (52,518 in total); 78 in Alicante (185,414 in total) and 73 in Valencia (268,636 in total). There are two unassigned cases.
Recoveries
571 people recovered from Covid, meaning that to date, 506,364 people in the Valencian region have overcome the virus. Valencia province has seen the most recoveries with 269,048, followed by Alicante with 184,480, and Castellón 52,779.
Hospitalisations
There are currently 242 people admitted to hospitals in the three provinces, down from 268 on Monday, 60 of whom are being treated in ICUs, which is three fewer than on Monday: 35 in the province of Castellón, six in ICU; 103 in the province of Alicante, 29 in ICU; and 104 in the province of Valencia, 25 of them in ICU.
Fatalities
There have been four reported deaths in the last seven days, one less than on Monday, meaning the total now stands at 7,742 since the beginning of the pandemic: 839 of these fatalities have been recorded in Castellón, 2,960 in Alicante and 3,943 in the province of Valencia.
Active cases
According to the latest data, there are currently 3,916 active cases in the community, which represents 0.76 per cent of the total positives.
Vaccinations
A total of 3,828,448 people have now been fully vaccinated against coronavirus while 4,017,548 have received at least one jab.
Outbreaks
There have been no outbreaks with 10 or more associated cases reported since the last update.
