ARCHIVED - 35 Murcian municipalities have reported Covid cases in the last 14 days
ARCHIVED ARTICLE Ulea is the only municipality to have never reported a single case
The weekly study examining in depth the evolution of the covid virus in the Region of Murcia was published on Wednesday evening and clearly shows that the virus is extending right across the region, with cases reported in 35 of the 45 municipalities of the Region of Murcia during the last 14 days.
The figures below show the breakdown by municipality and relate to the amount of positive tests diagnosed by PCR swab test. Most of the cases are minor, although there has been a substantial increase in the number of hospitalisations during the last week.
What the figures clearly show is that although the well-publicised outbreaks are clearly identifiable by the larger numbers of figures, that there is clear evidence of a much wider spread of contagion than most residents probably understood, and that covid cases have been reported in municipalities which were largely covid-free during the lockdown and peak weeks of the epidemic, such as the coastal municipalities; Los Alcázares, san Javier, San Pedro, la Unión….all have reported cases during the last fortnight.
At the moment there is very obviously a growing swell of new cases and although nobody wants to dwell on negative subjects and we’d all very much like the epidemic to just go away so we can get on with our lives as normal, it would be sensible to just think about the spread of these figures when out and about and make sure that basic measures of self-protection are observed.
There is certainly a mood of anger and rebellion on some social media sites at the moment, but none of us is capable of fighting off a worldwide pandemic which is spreading and intensifying almost everywhere, so fore-warned is fore-armed and the sensible ones amongst us will just leave the bigmouths in denial and quietly take a few extra precuations to protect ourselves.
This is the spread of new cases diagnosed in the last 14 days by municipality:
