In spite of the positive figures recorded by the Murcia region throughout the epidemic, the rise in case numbers during the last few days has increased the basic reproductive mere number (R0), which measures the average number of secondary infections from a primary case.
According to data from the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII) the Murcia region now has a measurement of 1.6 which means that 1.6 infections occur for each infection recorded.
In order for the epidemic to be considered controlled, this figure must be below 1, and this is the objective set by the Government when the state of alarm was decreed.
