Since Friday, there have been 39 new Covid deaths in Andalucía, almost ten per day
There were close to 6,000 new cases of coronavirus in Andalucía in the last four days, which is an improvement compared with the more than 9,000 cases recorded across three days at the last count on Friday.
However, the incidence rate among over-60s has risen, along with hospital admissions both on the general ward and in ICUs.
New infections
According to stats released today, Tuesday April 26, Andalucía has registered a total of 5,988 new cases of coronavirus since Friday 22, which was the last count. Of these, 2,610 cases were in people over 60, bringing the total number of infections in the region since the start of the pandemic to 1,443,939.
By provinces, Seville is the one with the most cases with 1,243, followed by Malaga with 957, Cadiz with 857, Cordoba with 742, Almeria with 608, Jaen with 596, Granada with 537 and Huelva with 448.
Cumulative incidence rate
With regard to the current average incidence rate of infection in Andalucía in the last 14 days in people over 60 years of age, this stands at 421.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, with the province of Almeria in the lead with 619.9; followed by Cordoba with 606.9; Huelva with 590; Jaen with 516.2; Seville with 369.4; Malaga with 363; Granada with 320.9 and Cadiz with 306.6.
Hospitalisations
There are currently 631 patients admitted to hospitals for Covid-19 throughout Andalucía, which is an increase of 43 people compared to last Friday, while intensive care units (ICUs) have increased by six to a total of 43 admitted patients.
Deaths
Data from the Institute of Statistics and Cartography of Andalucía (IECA) show that the region has 39 deaths since Friday, bringing the overall figure since the pandemic began to 13,573 people.
Of the 39 deaths, 12 were in Seville, five in Cadiz, Malaga and Almeria, respectively, four in Jaen, three in Cordoba and Granada, respectively, and two in Huelva.
Vaccinations
In Andalucía, a total of 7,420,628 people have received their full course of coronavirus vaccinations, which is 87.6% of the eligible population.
