ARCHIVED - Covid incidence in Murcia drops below Spanish average: June 3 update
ARCHIVED ARTICLE
The 14-day incidence rate in the Murcia Region has fallen to 574 cases
Following a few tense weeks around Easter when the Covid data across Spain seemed to be endlessly climbing, the Region of Murcia has turned another corner and for the second time this week, all of the important indicators have fallen.
Coronavirus infections
The Region of Murcia has registered an additional 525 new infections since the last report, of which 251 were reported on June 1, which brings the total number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic to 429,781. Of these cases, 69,014 have been diagnosed in people over the age of 60.
Cumulative incidence rate
The 14-day cumulative incidence rate continues its downward trend, dropping from 711.78 cases per 100,000 inhabitants at the beginning of the week to stand at just 574.3 Friday June 3.
Moreover, the 7-day figure is less than half (224.35 cases per 100,000) which is a strong indication that infections will continue to fall in the coming days.
Hospitalisations and fatalities
There are currently 211 people hospitalised in Murcia with coronavirus, ten fewer than on Tuesday. Of these, 11 patients are being treated for more serious symptoms in the Region’s ICUs, a reduction of three.
Since the last update, five more people have lost their lives to Covid, which brings the overall death toll since the start of the health crisis to 2,316.
Covid testing
As of June 3, the regional health authorities have carried out a total of 2,966,463 Covid PCR and antigen tests.
