ARCHIVED - Deaths continue to rise in the so-called hidden wave: Andalusia Covid update June 10
ARCHIVED ARTICLE
The ‘hidden wave’ of Covid has killed 58 people in Andalucía in the last three days alone
Deaths from coronavirus in Spain refuse to drop, with the virus continuing to claim around 50 lives per day nationwide. Covid has not gone yet, and in the Andalucía region, the rate of fatalities is actually going up, having risen from 38 at the last count, on Tuesday this week, up to 56 announced today having occurred over the last three days.
The situation stubbornly refuses to improve, with hundreds of people still hospitalised and around 7,000 more infected each week, even as we treat the virus as less serious.
New infections
Andalucía has registered a total of 3,533 new cases of coronavirus since Tuesday, of which 1,676 have occurred in people over 60, bringing the total number of infections in the region since the beginning of the pandemic to 1,522,635.
This is a slight increase on the 3,108 new Covid-19 cases this Tuesday, of which 1,594 were detected in people over 60 years of age.
Cumulative incidence rate
The current average incidence of infection in Andalucía in the last 14 days in people over 60 years of age continues to fall to 298.68 points per 100,000 inhabitants, which is 8.05 points less than three days ago, when it stood at 306.73 points.
Hospitalisations
Likewise, the Regional Ministry of Health and Families has reported in its daily communiqué on the coronavirus 518 hospitalisations, 60 fewer than last Tuesday, when 578 were recorded, while admissions to intensive care units have increased by two to 29.
By provinces, Seville has the most hospitalised patients with a total of 134, of which six are in ICU; followed by Malaga with 93, one in ICU; Cadiz with 76, two in ICU; Granada with 57 hospitalised, one in ICU; Cordoba with 56, six in ICU; Jaen with 58, seven in ICU; Huelva with 27, one in ICU; and Almeria with 17, one in the intensive care unit.
Deaths
Meanwhile, the number of deaths has risen by 18 people compared to three days ago, from 38 on Tuesday to 56 on Friday.
