ARCHIVED - Intensive care pressure continues to fluctuate: Murcia Covid update February 14
ARCHIVED ARTICLE -
The coronavirus incidence rate in the Region of Murcia has also climbed 6 points
As Spain begins its slow climb out of the winter season the health situation continues to improve, but it’s not without its fluctuations and nowhere is this more evident than in the Region of Murcia. Hospital and intensive care pressure in particular have been see-sawing for months, and this week has seen another unfortunate increase.
Coronavirus infections
The Region of Murcia has registered a total of 156 new cases of coronavirus in the latest data published by the health authorities on Monday February 13, the exact same number as reported on the same day last week.
This brings the overall number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic to 464,957.
Of the total cases, 91,864 have been diagnosed in people over the age of 60.
Cumulative incidence rate
The 14-day cumulative rate has increased by almost 6 points this week, climbing to 47.25 infections per 100,000 inhabitants. However, the 7-day figure is just slightly more than 50% of the two-week number, which means that the situation is still relatively.
Hospital pressure has taken another unfortunate upswing with 30 patients currently admitted for Covid (an increase of 2 since last Monday), 4 of whom are being treated for more serious symptoms in the Region’s ICU (2 more).
Four additional Covid-related fatalities have been registered, bringing the overall death toll since the start of the health crisis to 2,524.
Covid testing
The Region of Murcia has carried out 3,276,122 PCR and antigen coronavirus detection tests.
Vaccination data
According to Spanish Ministry of Health data, 92.8% of the population of the Murcia Region over the age of 12 has had a least one dose. In addition, 93.2% of people are now double jabbed.
