This brings the total number of fatalities in the Murcia Region since the beginning of the pandemic to 2,531
After experiencing a dramatic drop last week, hospital pressure in the Region of Murcia has remained very stable over the last seven days and at the moment, only one patient is being treated for more severe coronavirus symptoms in intensive care. The cumulative incidence rate has jumped up a little bit, as it has in most of the country, but Murcia still has one of the most promising figures in Spain.
Coronavirus infections
A total of 465,152 cases of coronavirus have been detected in the Region of Murcia since the beginning of the pandemic, with just 64 new infections registered in the last week.
Of the total cases, 92,345 of which have been diagnosed in people over the age of 60, compared to 92,192 a week ago.
Cumulative incidence rate
The 14-day cumulative incidence rate has taken another slight upswing this week, increasing three points to 26.22 infections per 100,000 inhabitants. In addition, the 7-day figure is now more than double the two-week number (13.72), a reliable indication that cases of Covid will begin to increase.
After a remarkable drop last week, hospital pressure has remained stable and relatively low according to the report released by the regional health authorities on Monday March 6.
There are currently just 17 patients admitted for Covid in the Region, compared to 15 admissions last week. After dropping down to zero last Monday ICU occupancy has increased ever so slightly, and there is now a single patient being treated for more serious symptoms in intensive care.
One additional Covid-related fatality has been registered, bringing the overall death toll since the start of the health crisis to 2,531.
Covid testing
The Region of Murcia has carried out 3,283,116 PCR and antigen coronavirus detection tests.
Vaccination data
According to Spanish Ministry of Health data, 92.8% of the population of the Murcia Region over the age of 12 has had a least one dose. In addition, 93.2% of people are now double jabbed.
