Of today's 13,196 positives across the region, 4,858 have been recorded in Alicante province, bringing the total to 20,648 in four days and pushing the cumulative incidence rate to 3,349.59 cases per 100,000.
The contagion rate has continued to increase in all of Alicante's health departments, although it has slowed down slightly in the worst hit area of Alcoy, and for the first time in more than a fortnight, the province has recorded fewer than 6,000 daily cases.
Coronavirus cases
The Regional Ministry of Health has reported 13.196 new Covid cases in the last 24 hours, more than 3,000 less than the 16,364 cases reported last Tuesday January 11, bringing the total number of positives since the beginning of the pandemic to 864,637.
By province: 2,874 have been recorded in Castellón (106,157 in total), 4,858 in Alicante (314,012) and 5,464 in Valencia (444,466).
There are still two unassigned cases.
According to the health data, there are currently 159,988 active cases, which represent 18.26% of the total positives.
Hospitalisations
There are currently 1,701 people admitted to hospital with Covid (two more than on Monday), 205 of them in ICU (seven more): 238 in the province of Castellón, 28 in ICU; 578 in the province of Alicante, 70 of them in ICU; and 885 in the province of Valencia, 107 in ICU.
15,066 patients have overcome the virus since the last update, meaning 707,770 people have recovered from the disease since the start of the pandemic.
By provinces, the discharges are distributed as follows: 79,137 in Castellón; 252,292 in Alicante; and 376,285 in Valencia. The total of unassigned registrations remains at 56.
Fatalities
A further 32 Covid-related deaths have been reported since Monday's update, which brings the overall death toll since the start of the health crisis in the Valencia region to 8,320: 946 in the province of Castellón, 3,188 in Alicante and 4,186 in Valencia.
The deceased, who died within the last seven days, are 17 men, aged between 44 and 97, and 15 women between 62 and 96-years-old.
Vaccination data
There has been no update on vaccinations, but as of Friday January 14, 4,265,413 people had been double-jabbed or had received the Janssen single dose, and a total of 10,042,110 doses of vaccine had been administered since the beginning of the pandemic.
