25 fatalities bring the global total to 28,996
The highest number of cases diagnosed within the last 24 hours yet reported in Spain pushed the total number of Covid cases higher this Thursday, the Ministry of Health reporting 3,781 new diagnoses.
The overall total of cases in Spain rose from 419,849 yesterday to 429,507 on Thursday evening, as cases reported by the autonomous communities earlier in the week were verified and added into the overall total of cases diagnosed by PCR swab testing.
Madrid is the Community with the most new cases, 979, followed by the Basque Country with 636, Andalusia with 384 and the Canary Islands with 326.

384 in Andalusia, 297 in Aragon, 38 in Asturias, 4 in the Balearic Islands, 326 in the Canary Islands, 89 in Cantabria, 119 in Castilla-La Mancha, 61 in Castilla y León, 164 in Catalonia, five in Ceuta, 134 in the Valencian Community, 77 in Extremadura, 272 in Galicia, 979 in Madrid, eight in Melilla, 29 in Murcia, 72 in Navarra, 636 in the Basque Country and 87 in La Rioja.
132 deaths in the last week:
132 people have died in the last week, of which almost half, 56, correspond to Madrid. The total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic now stands at 28,996. In Andalusia there have been 14 deaths, in the Balearic Islands, three; in the Canary Islands, five, three in Castilla-La Mancha, nine in Castilla y León, seven in Catalonia, eleven in the Valencian Community, two in Extremadura, eight in Galicia, three in Murcia, one in Navarra, seven in the Basque Country and two in La Rioja.
25 fatalities have been reported in the last 24 hours.
The director of the Center for the Coordination of Health Care and Emergencies, Fernando Simón, said this afternoon that the evolution this week is similar to that of the last seven days; upward.
Hospitals not under significant pressure
6,036 patients are currently hospitalised with covid-19, occupying 5% of hospital beds. "It is not an exaggerated figure, but for a single pathology it is very important," said Simón, who recalled that in March and April, patients with coronavirus occupied 55% of the beds. There is no hospital pressure, except in limited specific communities such as Madrid and Aragón (13% occupancy in both) and the Basque Country (10%).
In the past week, 1,607 admissions have been registered in hospitals (132,988 since the start of the pandemic in Spain): 230 in Andalusia, 81 in Aragon, six in Asturias, 40 in the Balearic Islands, 106 in the Canary Islands, 31 in Cantabria, 20 in Castilla-La Mancha, 129 in Castilla y León, 62 in Catalonia, one in Ceuta, 153 in the Valencian Community, 22 in Extremadura, 96 in Galicia, 490 in Madrid, three in Melilla, 75 in Murcia, 35 in Navarra, eight in Basque Country and 19 in La Rioja.
Among them, there are 114 new Intensive Care Unit admissions(12,206 in the global COVID-19 count): 14 in Andalusia, seven in the Balearic Islands, 19 in the Canary Islands, two in Cantabria, three in Castilla-La Mancha, ten in Castilla y León , five in Catalonia, 14 in the Valencian Community, six in Extremadura, eight in Galicia, eleven in Madrid, one in Melilla, six in Murcia, six in Navarra, one in the Basque Country and one in La Rioja.
Outbreaks mainly under 10 cases
Spain has registered 2,463 outbreaks to date with around 25,700 associated cases and, of these outbreaks, 687 have been notified in the last week, mostly related to leisure and family gatherings. 77% of the outbreaks are small, with less than 10 cases and the average size of each outbreak is 6.8 cases.
