ARCHIVED ARTICLE
There has also been a considerable drop in daily infections in the Murcia Region in recent days
As the pandemic situation continues to improve steadily all across Spain, the Minister of Health has issued a cautious message of hope for a "reasonably optimal situation to face autumn and winter". Several towns in the Region of Murcia are running vaccination campaigns ahead of the promise of a batch of fourth doses later this month.
The cumulative incidence has taken a significant nose dive since before the weekend and is quickly approaching the Spanish average, and hospital occupancy has also fallen considerably.
Coronavirus infections
The Region of Murcia has registered a total of 360 cases of coronavirus since the last update five days ago, 90 of which were reported on Monday September 5, which brings the overall number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic to 454,346.
Of the total cases, 83,249 have been diagnosed in people over the age of 60.
Cumulative incidence rate
The latest data provided by the regional health authorities on Monday show that the 7-day cumulative incidence rate has dropped slightly to stand at 86.88 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
The average incidence over a two-week period also reflects this slowdown, dropping considerably in the last few days from 205.45 cases to 182.29 today.
Hospitalisations have taken another welcome dip, dropping from 116 patients to just 108. There has been a slight increase in intensive care occupation this week, with the number of chronically ill patients going from eight to nine.
Seven more Covid-related fatalities have been registered, bringing the overall death toll since the start of the health crisis to 2,428.
Covid testing
The Region of Murcia has carried out 3,135,122 PCR and antigen coronavirus detection tests.
Vaccination data
Since the last update, 91.84% of the entire population of the Murcia Region has had a least one dose. In addition, 84.87% of people are now double jabbed.
