New infections and incidence rate refuse to drop further, in a mini spike for Andalucía
Things got slightly worse for Andalucía’s current Covid-19 situation this weekend as there were a total of 289 new cases, up from 276 before the weekend and 171 a week ago. However, only one more person died of coronavirus over the weekend, six fewer than two days before but the same as this time last week.
The Regional Minister of Health and Families in Andalucía, Jesús Aguirre, said, “with an incidence rate of 30.09, it is difficult to bring it down because we have the zero- to twelve-year-old age group who aren’t being vaccinated.”
New infections
The 289 new positive cases on Monday and Sunday come after 276 on Saturday, 297 on Friday, 179 on Thursday, 216 on Wednesday, 232 on Tuesday and 171 on Monday and Sunday. The total number of people who have been infected with coronavirus in Andalucía is now 805,723.

The 14-day cumulative incidence is now 30.09 100,000 people, having gone up nearly 2 points over the weekend.
Hospitalisations
The number of people hospitalised for Covid-19 in Andalucía continues to improve, though, having dropped by 18 compared to Saturday to a total of 186, down 29 week-by-week. Patients admitted to the ICU have decreased by three to 46, 22 less than those reported seven days ago.
Deaths
One person died of coronavirus in Andalucía over the weekend.
Recovered
A total of 789,991 people have now recovered from coronavirus in Andalucía since the start of the pandemic.
Vaccinations
Almost 40,000 new vaccines were given out in Andalucía this weekend, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the region to 12,928,114. The number of people who are now double jabbed stands at 6,737,705 (79.6% of the region adult population, and 90.4% if you count over-12s) and 6,867,700 people have at least one dose of the vaccine (81.1% of the region adult population, and 92.1% if you count over-12s).
