ARCHIVED ARTICLE
ICU and general admissions have both fallen in the Region of Murcia
The Region of Murcia experienced an unwelcome surge in hospital admissions earlier in the week, with both general admissions and intensive care patient numbers increasing. The situation has righted itself, according to the latest report from the regional health authorities, which have registered a considerable drop in both.
Coronavirus infections
The Region of Murcia registered 620 new cases of coronavirus since the last update, 283 of which were recorded on Wednesday July 20, a considerable decrease on the 801 infections registered in the last health report.
This brings the overall number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic to 448,633.
Of the total cases, 79,548 have been diagnosed in people over the age of 60.
Cumulative incidence rate
The latest data provided by the regional health authorities on Friday show that the 7-day cumulative incidence rate has dropped further to stand at 313.06 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
The average incidence over a two-week period also reflects this slowdown, decreasing significantly from 890.71 cases last Tuesday to 725.19.
Hospitalisations and fatalities
There are currently 309 people hospitalised for Covid in Murcia, 32 fewer than in the last report from the regional health authorities, 13 of whom are being treated for more serious conditions in the Region’s ICUs, a reduction of three.
Two more Covid-related fatalities have been registered, bringing the overall death toll since the start of the health crisis to 2,370.
Covid testing
The Region of Murcia has carried out 3,086,835 PCR and antigen coronavirus detection tests.
Vaccination data
Since the last update, 91.8% of the entire population of the Murcia Region has had a least one dose. In addition, 84.79% of people are now double jabbed.
