ARCHIVED - Incidence rate drops a full 10 points: Murcia Covid update September 14
ARCHIVED ARTICLE
Only two Covid-related fatalities have been registered in the Region of Murcia since the last update
While several European countries, including neighbour France, are experiencing a worrying rebound in daily cases and are even bracing themselves for a possible eighth wave, Spain seems to be bucking the trend with the Region of Murcia making great headway.
In the latest health report published by the regional health authorities on September 12, the coronavirus incidence rate has dropped a full ten points, while the number of both hospital and intensive care patients has also declined.
Coronavirus infections
The Region of Murcia has registered a total of 353 cases of coronavirus since the last update on September 8, 96 of which were reported on Monday September 12, which is the most recent data available.
This brings the overall number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic to 454,859.
Of the total cases, 83,641 have been diagnosed in people over the age of 60.
Cumulative incidence rate
The latest data provided by the regional health authorities on Monday show that the 7-day cumulative incidence rate has decreased again to stand at 83.52 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, which is an excellent indication that the health situation should continue to improve.
More importantly, the average incidence over a two-week period reflects a significant slowdown, dropping 10 points in the last few of days from 181.98 cases to 171.92 today.
Hospitalisations have taken another welcome dip, dropping from 96 patients to just 92. There has also been another drop in intensive care occupation this week, with the number of chronically ill patients going from 7 to 6.
Two more Covid-related fatalities have been registered, bringing the overall death toll since the start of the health crisis to 2,432.
Covid testing
The Region of Murcia has carried out 3,141,741 PCR and antigen coronavirus detection tests.
Vaccination data
Since the last update, 91.84% of the entire population of the Murcia Region has had a least one dose. In addition, 84.87% of people are now double jabbed.
