Most important golf competition in Murcia gets a new sponsor

The Golf Federation of the Region of Murcia (FGRM) signs a new sponsorship deal for the Superliga Región de Murcia golf competition
On November 2 the Golf Federation of the Region of Murcia (FGRM) signed a new sponsorship agreement with the Universae Institute of Higher Education for the “Superliga Región de Murcia” golf competition, which will be renamed “II Superliga Universae”.
The Universae Institute of Higher Education, with headquarters in the Region, has in a short time positioned itself as a predominant body in higher education, not only in Spain but also in the USA and Latin America, offering a wide range of vocational training degrees. It offers 50 degree courses, including intermediate and higher degrees, master's degrees and double degrees, together with a clear and innovative commitment in terms of the way of teaching, supported by new technologies.
The II Superliga Universae competition tournaments will be held between the months of January and September initially including 8 courses; Golf Altorreal, Real Golf La Manga Club, La Serena, Lorca Golf, La Torre, Hacienda del Álamo, La Roda and New Sierra Golf. It is envisaged that in 2024 the federation competition will be extended to 10 courses with Altaona and Alhama Signature being added to the venues.
It is expected that more than a thousand players from all over Spain will participate in the different categories: Ladies, 1st Gentlemen, 2nd Gentlemen and Mixed Supersenior. All events will be held under the Stableford scoring system. Winners will receive not only the prestigious Territorial trophy accrediting their achievement, but also a FGRM golf bag and a set of clubs (custom-made) from the Titleist brand.
Universae has established extensive links in sport with a presence in national football, around 4,000 children wear its shirt and other sports including – cycling, athletics, rugby, martial arts, paddle tennis, basketball, handball, futsal, horse riding, water sports and, from this week, golf.
Ricardo Fernández, Director of Communication and Sports Manager of Universae said during the signing of the agreement that took place at its own headquarters, located in the Polígono Oeste de Murcia "Being linked to golf allows us to be linked to a series of values that, as an institution, are inalienable: honesty, perseverance, humility, camaraderie and spirit of improvement" with the President of the FGRM, Juan Carlos Martínez stating "From the Golf Federation of the Region of Murcia we want to thank Universae for the support it continues to offer to golf in particular and to all sports in general" adding that it was "a great opportunity to show the importance of golf and its important boom in the Region of Murcia".
