The number of people who have overcome coronavirus in the Region of Murcia has surpassed 300,000
The downward trend continues in the Region of Murcia with 1,695 new Covid cases reported in the last 24-hours, although the death toll refuses to budge and a further nine deaths have been confirmed.
On a positive note, the number of people who have overcome the virus since the start of the pandemic now exceeds 300,000 with a total of 302,303 recoveries.
Cumulative incidence rate
The 14-day figure has fallen to 3,300 cases per 100,000 inhabitants although it remains nearer the 4,000 mark in Alhama de Murcia with a rate of 3,921 cases.
Coronavirus infections
The health authorities registered 1,695 new Covid cases on Thursday, a substantial drop from the 1,965 infections reported the previous day. The number of active cases has also dropped from 24,634 to 23,890 in the last 24 hours.
Of the 1,695 new cases, 508 correspond to the municipality of Murcia, 271 to Cartagena, 99 to Lorca, 96 to Molina de Segura, 59 each to Cieza, 50 to Torre Pacheco, 48 to Mazarrón, 27 to Águilas, and 24 to Yecla. The remaining infections are distributed throughout the other municipalities.
Fatalities
A further nine deaths were reported on February 3 – six men and three women aged between 48 and 90. This brings the overall death toll since the beginning of the pandemic to 2,010.
Hospitalisations
As for hospital pressure, admissions fell slightly in the last 24 hours and there are currently 572 people being treated in hospital for coronavirus, down from 599 24-hours earlier.
Of these patients, 80 remain in a serious condition in intensive care units (ICU). According to the region’s Minister of Health, Juan José Pedreño Pedreño, about 60% of those admitted to ICU have not been vaccinated against Covid.

Vaccination data
There has been no vaccination update but as of February 1, a total of 1,199,949 people, representing 91.1% of the population over the age of 12, have been double jabbed while a further 1,231,469 have received their first dose.
