ARCHIVED - Opening restrictions bars and restaurants in Murcia Region; breakdown by municipality updated 21st December
All bars and restaurants are allowed to open external terraces, but the interior area permitted to open varies from place to place
The Murcian regional Covid Monitoring Committee met on Monday 21st to evaluate the data gathered from last week and has allocated the municipalities of the region as follows.
From Wednesday December 23rd most bars and restaurants in the Murcia Region are permitted to serve food inside their premises as well as on external terraces and residents may cross internal municipal boundaries into other municipalities.
There is now only one exception; Los Alcázares, in which the borders remain closed and the interiors of bars remain closed, although residents can continue use the outdoor terraces of hostelries in the municipality.
The regional government operates a four-tier system according to the level of cases in each municipality, with restrictions varying depending on the current situation in each
.
The curfew from 23:00 until 06:00, limit on the size of a group permitted to meet as 6 people and regional perimeter border closure are maintained.
The external regional perimeter is closed until after the holiday on 6th January for non-essential travel.
See below for the new restrictions announced on Monday for the festive period:
Extreme transmission areas ( shown as red on the map)
Interiors must remain closed and no service is permitted from inside the premises
Terraces may open to 100% capacity
Take-away and delivery service permitted
Masks must be worn when not actively eating or drinking
2 metre distancing between tables
Shops are only permitted to open to 50% of their total capacity.
This only covers Los Alcázares . Furthermore, residents from this one municipality are not permitted to cross the borders of their municipality this week.Everywhere else, the municipal borders have now re-opened.
Very high transmission areas (shown in yellow)
Bars can only open 30% of internal capacity:
Terraces open 100%
No food may be consumed at the bar
Take-away service can be offered
Masks must be worn when not actively eating or drinking
2 metre distancing between tables
Shops are only permitted to open to 50% of their total capacity.
Albudeite, Torre Pacheco, Abanilla, Alguazas, Moratalla, Fuente Álamo, and San Pedro del Pinatar
In all of these localitions the incidence rate is considered to be very high (between 250 and 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants).
Medium /high transmission areas (shown in blue)
50% of internal bar/restaurant capacity can open:
Terraces open 100%
No food may be consumed at the bar
Masks must be worn when not actively eating or drinking
2 metre distancing between tables
Shops are only permitted to open to 50% of their total capacity.
Jumilla, Ulea, San Javier, Alhama de Murcia, Archena, Mazarrón, Santomera, Lorca, Cartagena, Campos del Río, Cehegín, La Unión, Totana, Caravaca de la Cruz, Yecla, Murcia, Fortuna, Calasparra, Molina de Segura, Beniel, Puerto Lumbreras, Villanueva del Río Segura, Alcantarilla, Mula, Cieza, Ceutí, Librilla, Lorquí and Bullas.
In these areas the incidence rate is between 75 and 250 cases per 100,000
Low risk areas (shown in jade green)
Hostelries can open to 75% of internal capacity
Terraces open 100%
Food may be consumed at the bar
Masks must be worn when not actively eating or drinking
2 metre distancing between tables
This affects Águilas, Las Torres de Cotillas, Blanca, Pliego, Abarán, Ojós, Ricote, and Aledo.
The situation will once again be reviewed next Monday.
Festive season changes to restrictions:
On December 24th, 25th, 31st and January 1st hospitality establishments must close at 6:00 p.m. and may reopen at 9:00 p.m. then continue service until the curfew begins; on the 24th and 31st this is at 01:30 and on the 25th and 1st this is until 23:00.The regional premier said that this permits families to eat together at either an early or late sitting, but aims to prevent large gatherings over a period of time.
This means that the public are allowed out into the streets until 1.30 am on the 24th and 31st, but must be home by that time, and until 23:00 on the 25th and 1st.
The number of people allowed to meet on these four days remains at 10, and cannot comprise more than three households. So groups of 10 people may gather either in a domestic environment or in a restaurant on these four days only. For the remainder of the festive season the group size is limited to 6 people. This will be a big relief for those who have already planned festive gatherings and invited friends/family for the day, as last week it had been indicated that the group size could very well be reduced to 6.
The regional perimeter border remains closed for all but essential journeys throughout the festive period, so it is not possible to leave and enter the Region except for justified reasons.
The Murcia government has now decided not to allow residents from other areas of Spain to visit “allegados” or nearest and dearest, friends, and has limited the exceptional entry of non-residents between the 23rd December and 6th January to visit FAMILY MEMBERS ONLY.
So this means that the borders remain closed for anyone from other areas of Spain coming to their holiday properties, taking a holiday, or going to visit “friends” throughout the festive period.
It has been said by many people that the rules are “unenforceable” and that the police lack the resources to stop every vehicle and check who the occupants are going to visit, but the governments of both Spain and the region are hoping that common sense and a desire not to prolong the pandemic will prevail and that residents of the country will respect the requests of all administrations not to travel unless it is absolutely necessary (although of course, we all know that there are many people who will not abide by the requests).
The regional government has gone one step further and said antigen tests will be offered to all those from outside of the region who want to visit family members within the region over the festive season and can be pre-booked by calling 900121212.
It is likely that the measures will be extended to cover the 5th and 6th January as well, but the regional government is unwilling to make a decision until they have evaluated the effectiveness of this first set of measures over Christmas and the New Year.
