It is obligatory to wear a mask in public.
The message still doesn´t seem to be getting through to some members of the ex-pat community that they MUST wear a mask in public apart from:
When eating and drinking; this means that if they are in a bar, seated at a table, they MUST wear a mask other than when raising a cup to take a sip of coffee or to eat.Masks must be worn when going to the toilet, walking around, entering or leaving the bar etc.
When bathing or swimming, or in the immediate area around a pool or on a beach.
When exercising; driving a golf buggy is not considered to be exercising, neither is walking the dog. The exercising exclusion is simply for those who are exercising hard and may experience difficulties in breathing.
Children under 6 do not have to wear a mask.
Those with medical conditions that make breathing difficult when wearing a mask do not have to wear a mask, but you must have proof of this.

I cannot stress strongly enough how important it is to comply with the law, regardless of whether or not you agree with it.
The Guardia Civíl, Policia Nacional and Policía Local are ALL empowered to issue sanctions and the fine is 100 euros.
Murcia city police advised this morning that they have now issued 126 sanctions and are actively enforcing the law and we have received reports of police walking into bars and telling people to put their masks on.
I think the point that a lot of holidaymakers are missing is that our regional businesses have been in lockdown for 10 weeks and many of us are only clinging on to solvency by our fingernails. If we have to undergo another lockdown, we won´t survive it and when the holidaymakers come back out here next year, all the businesses offering them English language services will be gone. Bars will be fined if their clients are not complying with the law and they, along with the rest of us, cannot survive if covid cases go through the roof here. Wearing a mask is easy, effective and it's the law here.
I am absolutely exhausted having answered hundreds of posts this last week trying to get people to understand that this is the law and we can´t keep arguing about it; it will make no difference, we have to comply with the law in Spain if we are here. End of story.
