ARCHIVED ARTICLE
Hospitalisations in the Murcia Region have decreased slightly while ICU admissions remain the same
The cumulative incidence rate in the Region of Murcia has dropped by more than 40 points once again this week, bringing the figure closer to the national average. Moreover, the average figure over a 7 day period is almost three times lower, a very strong indication that the health situation will continue to improve.
Coronavirus infections
The Region of Murcia has registered 323 new cases of coronavirus since the last update, 152 of which were recorded on Wednesday August 10, a good decrease on the 205 infections registered in the last health report published on August 8.
This brings the overall number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic to 451,651.
Of the total cases, 81,419 have been diagnosed in people over the age of 60.
Cumulative incidence rate
The latest data provided by the regional health authorities on Monday show that the 7-day cumulative incidence rate has dropped even further to stand at 187.47 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
The average incidence over a two-week period also reflects this slowdown, decreasing significantly from 487.73 cases last week to 443.22 today.
There has been a slight drop in hospital pressure in last few days: There are currently 242 people hospitalised for Covid in Murcia, compared to 246 in the last update, 12 of whom are being treated for more serious conditions in the Region’s ICUs (the same as the last update).
Three more Covid-related fatalities have been registered, bringing the overall death toll since the start of the health crisis to 2,391.
Covid testing
The Region of Murcia has carried out 3,106,913 PCR and antigen coronavirus detection tests.
