ICU comes under more pressure in the Region as the incidence takes another dip
Data indicators in the Region of Murcia seem to have slipped into a kind of uneasy pattern, with certain coronavirus figures dipping on weekly basis while others continue to swing back and forth. That’s certainly the case with the latest health report, which shows a tiny increase in ICU admissions while hospitalisations have fallen, although not to the low levels seen last week.
Coronavirus infections
The Region of Murcia has registered a total of 365 cases of coronavirus since the last update on September 16, of which 96 were reported on Monday September 19, which is the most recent data available.
This brings the overall number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic to 455,418.
Of the total cases, 84,004 have been diagnosed in people over the age of 60.
Cumulative incidence rate
The latest data provided by the regional health authorities on Monday show that the 7-day cumulative incidence rate has taken a bit of an upswing, increasing from 81.39 cases per 100,000 inhabitants to 86.57. This up and down trend has dominated in the Region for the past few reports, with this weekly figure routinely losing and gaining a couple of points.
Far more crucially, the average incidence over a two-week period has seen a slow-down, moving from 173.45 cases per 100,000 inhabitants to 170.70.
Following its usual see-saw trend, hospitalisations have decreased again this week, moving from 105 patients admitted down to 100 in the last few days. There has, however, been the slightest of rises in intensive care occupation, with the number of chronically ill patients going from seven to eight.
Five more Covid-related fatalities have been registered, bringing the overall death toll since the start of the health crisis to 2,438.
Covid testing
The Region of Murcia has carried out 3,149,834 PCR and antigen coronavirus detection tests.
Vaccination data
There has been no recent update from the regional health authorities on vaccination figures, but the latest available data show that 91.84% of the entire population of the Murcia Region has had a least one dose. In addition, 84.87% of people are now double jabbed.
