No mañana, mañana: This Spanish airline is officially the most punctual in all of Europe

One of these Spanish airlines has also been voted the most on-time low-cost airline in the world for 2024

Spanish airlines Iberia and Iberia express have officially been recognised as the most punctual carriers in Europe in 2024, taking first and second place respectively. This impressive achievement is a trend that’s been building for several years now.

Spain has a pretty good reputation for on-time airlines and last year, four of its carriers made the top 10 list. Iberia airlines once again took the top spot with 85.87% of its flights running on schedule, followed by Air Europa, 84.1% of whose flights arrived on time in 2023. Next in the ranking was Iberia Express, with 83.8% of planes touching down on time.

In this year’s rankings, Iberia Express claimed the top position, with an impressive 84.69% of its flights arriving on time. Just behind them, Iberia, Spain’s flagship airline, soared to second place, with 81.58% of its flights also sticking to schedule.

What’s even more remarkable is Iberia Express’s global success. Not only did it clinch first place in Europe for punctuality, but it was also named the most on-time low-cost airline in the world for 2024, according to Cirium’s On-time Performance Report – the gold standard for tracking airline punctuality.

Over the years, Iberia Express has consistently been a top performer in the world of low-cost travel. From 2014 to 2018, it was recognised as the most punctual low-cost airline globally, and in 2023, it proudly stood as the most on-time airline in Europe.

Iberia, on the other hand, has been a fixture in the top 10 most punctual global airlines for nearly a decade, securing eighth place this year.

In the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands, two of the most important markets for Iberia Express, departure punctuality has been above 90%in both archipelagos.

In its report, Cirium congratulated Iberia Express and highlighted that “it continues to prove to be one of the most reliable airlines in Europe. This achievement underlines Iberia Express’ dedication to punctuality and reflects its spirit of operational excellence. This airline continues to demonstrate that affordability can coexist with punctuality.
