The Valencia Government has once again opened up its 'Bono Viaje' 2023 travel voucher scheme to boost local tourism and offer travellers registered in any of the Region's municipalities the chance to save up to 600 euros on 'staycations'.
Requests for 60% discount on a minimum of two consecutive nights can be made from Tuesday December 20, and the regional Secretary for Tourism, Francesc Colomer, expects more than 160,000 people to benefit.
"The initiative has been very well received in the past, which is why we wanted to continue with the campaign next year. From January until now, 51,964 bookings have been registered, of which 2,484 are reservations for this Christmas concentrated between December 15 and 23, when the promotion for 2022 ends," explained Colomer.
"Since the beginning of the year, the Bono Viaje 2022 has mobilised more than 26.6 million in the tourism sector of the Valencia Region outside the high season, with Benidorm, Calpe, Valencia, Finestrat and Peñíscola being the most popular destinations," he added.
The average individual spend on throughout 2022 was 513.70 euros and the average recorded stay was 2.6 nights.
"This programme is a stimulus policy that we want to consolidate, as it has allowed us to reactivate domestic tourism in the Region and strengthen the recovery of a sector that is key to our economy," added the head of tourism.
This year's initiative will open at 10am on December 20 and remain in force until 10am on November 30, 2023, and the two travel periods will be from January 16 to May 31, 2023 and September 18 to December 22, 2023.
In addition to accommodation, beneficiaries of the Bono Viaje 2023 will be able to add other complementary services to their booking, which will also be eligible for the subsidy, such as meals, health and wellness treatments, sports activities, excursions, entertainment activities and parking.
Each individual can receive just one travel voucher and once their promotional code has been assigned, they will have 10 working days to formalise a reservation at any of the participating tourist establishments. Voucher applicants must also be up to date with tax and/or social security payments.
