14-day incidence rate in Andalucía since March 2020
Andalucía saw 3,110 4,710 new positive cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, and the 14-day cumulative incidence rate has risen to 293.2, with no sign of slowing down any time soon, although the Junta de Andalucía has managed to finally get its Covid passport law passed today.
New infections
The number of daily infections continues to soar in Andalucía, which has added 4,710 new positives in the last 24 hours this Friday December 17. That’s 900 more new daily cases than there were yesterday and around 1,500 more than were seen last weekend.
Since the start of the pandemic, Andalucía has already recorded 852,555 positive cases.
Cumulative incidence rate
The 14-day cumulative incidence rate has shot up 40 points in one day, now standing at 293.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, whereas on Monday it was at 174.3. That’s an increase of more than 100 points in just four days.
Hospitalisations
Andalucía registers a rise of 36 hospitalised patients this Friday, to a total of 531. This is 123 more than a week ago, while the number of patients admitted to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) remains at 99 for the second day running, eleven more than seven days ago.
Deaths
The Andalusian community also recorded three more Covid deaths in the last 24 hours,
taking the death toll since the start of the pandemic to 11,460.
Recovered
Positive news, at least as over 12,000 infected people have come out of the woods this week, and now there are 812,148 cured cases since the pandemic began. This gives a promising recovery rate of around 95.26%.
Vaccinations
The Junta de Andalucía is now including the statistics for all over-5s in their count of everyone in the region who is vaccinated, which means the total number has risen to 6,881,614 fully vaccinated people while the percentage of the population has dropped to 81.3%. There are 7,052,645 people who have received their first dose (83.3%).
Of those in the 5-11 age bracket, a reported 57,996 children have had their first dose this week (9.1% of all children), while just over 5,000 kids (0.8%) have apparently been fully vaccinated since the start of the infant vaccination programme this week, although there is no explanation of how this is possible as they are using Pfizer, and not the Janssen monodose vaccine.
