2,073 new cases in the region, 783 in Alicante province, and seven deaths
For the second consecutive day, the 14-day cumulative incidence rate has dropped in the Valencia region, having fallen to 532 cases per 100,000 inhabitants according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health, this is a decrease of 37 points in 48 hours.
To give a comparison, the national average incidence rate has also dropped slightly to 615 (from 633), and the Valencia region now sits between its neighbouring Region of Murcia (469) and Andalucia (582).
In addition to a slight decrease in new infections, with 2,073 new diagnosis confirmed today, (224 less than on Wednesday), there has also been a fall in the number of Covid patients on wards and in ICU.
And in terms of vaccinations, more than a million people in Alicante province have now received at least one dose of vaccine, with the Ministry of Health announcing this morning that the immunisation of 16 to 18-year-olds will begin next week, followed by children aged 12 and over a fortnight later.
New cases: 2,073 new cases of coronavirus confirmed by PCR or antigen testing, (down from 2,297 on Wednesday) bringing the total number of positives to 474,508 people. By provinces: 783 in Alicante, down from 863 (169,902 in total); 1,091 in Valencia (255,516 in total); and 196 have been registered in Castellón (49,085 in total).
Hospitals: There are currently 625 Covid patients being treated in Valencian hospitals (38 less than on Wednesday), of whom 107 are in ICU (four less): 169 in the province of Alicante, 30 in ICU; 375 in Valencia, 60 in ICU; and 81 in Castellón, 17 in ICU.
Recoveries: 3,128 people have recovered since the last update, meaning 451,432 people have been given the all-clear since the start of the pandemic: 160,700 in Alicante; 243,847 in Valencia; and 46,827 in Castellón.
Fatalities: There have been seven Covid-related deaths in the last seven days - down from nine on Wednesday, meaning the total now stands at 7,526: 2,861 in Alicante; 3,849 in Valencia; and 816 in Castellón.
Active cases: There are currently 27,011 active cases, which represent 5.56 per cent of the total positives.
Vaccinations: A total of 3,419,816 people had received at least one dose and 2,847,691 were fully immunised. By provinces: 1,020,977 in Alicante; 1,491,089 in Valencia; and 335,625 in Castellón.
Outbreaks: Of the recorded outbreaks in the region, three have 10 or more associated cases, and all are of social origin: two in Gandia, one with 13 cases and the other with 11; Torrent (13 cases).
